Just curious what everyone is doing as far as placing your IAT in the intake piping. I have seen a few cars with the stock grommet and a few cars that have some kind of threaded in style IAT sensor....

It seems like the stock style grommet would be a prime place for a small boost leak... does anyone have trouble with it, or does it manage to seal up fine?

If not, where do you get the threaded style IAT? Thanks

i use the syclone one and thread it in. can't remember thread off hand thinking same as O2 sensor

Hmm interesting.... what kind of pipe is it going into? My pipes are aluminum so its not like I could weld on the O2 bung....

The thread in one is 3/8 pipe, the sensor and alum weld bung is pretty common. I make my own weld adapters normally because some of the store bought type are to long and the temp sensor does not stick out into the airflow.

I just bought a summit weld in 3/8 NPT bung and it worked fine with a syclone sensor...

Ok I picked one up.... I see that it plugs right in for sure.... no tuning adjustment for calibrations or anything right? Reads like a stock one?

I made my own bung out of a spacer bought from lowes. It was 5/8" OD and 1/2" ID x 1"long iirc. I cut it down to the length I wanted, then tapped it with a 3/8" NPT tap and welded it to my pipe.

John, if you get a bung Mickey could weld it for you. I know he charges $50 per hour for aluminum welding, but he may cut you a break on somthing like that?

Anyone else in town weld aluminum? Yea I didnt like how my grommet fit, so I figured the hell with it I'll buy the bung/sensor...

I have to get the bung welded in, and also my Blow Off Valve flange welded on one of the cold pipes....

I guess I need to ask.. HOW MUCH when I show him the pieces...

I only know of him and the other place Kent went to the first and only time. Mickey does MUCH better work. I'd just stop by and ask how much $$$.
