Default Is a LM2 much quieter than a LM1?

I have Lt's, ORY, and a LM1 and I love the sound but now that I have my 3600stall, I have to rev up a lot higher at low speeds and the neighbors hate me at 1am and 5am when I go to work.

I'd like to have a cutout/ quieter exhaust. I have a LM1 right now and am enticed by the modular design of the slp system and the fact that a LM2 muffler is only $80 or so and can be swapped in 20 minutes.

But, i'm not going to go through the time and money if it's not "that" much quieter.

Anyone have an opinion or has done this before?

A little less important but, what sort of power decrease could I expect with the LM2? It's no big deal since I plan on getting the cut out but it would be nice to know without having to do multiple dyno pulls.

The lm2 is definatly quieter than the lm1 but still pretty loud. I have the lm2 and just took the "muffler" off of mine and replaced it with a Moroso Spiral Flow and love it. The lm2 "muffler" is a straight through design with a little bit of packing around it so it's really not much of a muffler. As far as power decrease, there wont be any at all. I might have lost a few hp with my Moroso muffler I instaled nut it is well worth it to not be def when I drive down the road. Hope this helps!

Didn't even think of that muffler. I'm not stuck on the LM2, I'm open to any suggestion. My only criteria is that I can maintain the SLP "style" muffler in that it fits in the 'I' pipe and not behind the axle. (I just dont want to swap in an entire catback system).

Any suggestions are appreciated and acceptable.

Thank you.

Are you referring to the moroso spiral flows or the stainless "regular" muffler? Thanks.

the spiral flow. It is circular just like the slp. Some people use the borla also. I think it's called the xr1 or something like that.

Its just a hair difference. You would be better off getting a Borla XR1 (#40085) or converting to the PowerFlo. I have clips of all of them on youtube under "Detoxx03"

Thanks for all the suggestions folks. Anyone have any input on which of these are quieter than the LM1? Are they all similar in flow?

My setup runs a lm2 with power flo's in the rear and I would still
like to replace the the lm2 with something quieter. The recently installed stall has "waken the sleeping giant"

And will all of these bolt in place of the LM1 without any additional cutting.fabrication?

I know I'm beating a dead horse but I really hate exhaust work. It never seals properly or lines up right. I dont mind swapping a muffler, but i don't want to change the catback.

I'll have a shop put a cutout before the muffler (unless that's a slip fit as well and I can go right from the y-pipe into the cutout into the muffler. Any thoughts?

my cutout is in the I pipe where the front seat / rear seat floor is....i have seen guys running true duals put dual cutouts after the headers before the X pipe.......

I plan on having the pipe of the cutout go toward the passenger side and mount it right before the muffler in the I pipe. Seems like a good place. I'm hoping I can trim the stainless pipe that runs from the y-pipe to the LM (It's about a 16" pipe) and place it there with clamps (I'd rather not have it welded permanently).

I'm about in the same boat (LT's, ORY, and LM1). Anybody know which of those mufflers would be the most quiet if I were to swap it with the LM1. I'm getting tired of the sound and looking for about the same size stall, but don't really want buy another catback, so one of these looks like the best option.

Yeah, the stall really wakes it up. It is much louder. I'm with you on wanting the quietest. If i'm going to spend the money than I want it to be a big difference. The moroso spiral flows are only $55, they're looking good.

Can't go wrong with a Moroso Spiral Flow. I love mine. I have a lm2 muffler that I took off of mine if anybody wants it. I'll take $50 shipped fo it.

I would like you to buy my muffler but I honestly think you would be happier with a Moroso so I would rather see you go that route.

Thanks for an honest answer. I'll keep my ears open for someone looking for a LM2.
