Just want to make sure I have this right before I pull the trigger and order these. To run on my stock 16" rims I would want Mickey Thompson ET Street Radial, 255/50R16, 26" tall correct? Do you guys usually buy yours from a sponsor or can you ever find them at local tire shops?

These would basically be just to drive to and from the track, no other street driving. Would love to throw down some cash for a full blown drag rim and tire setup, but can't justify that on my bolt-on car right now. Maybe in a few years, but for now these should be fine for me.

Thats a nice short time. What mods do you have? I just have a stock stall, but once I get a converter I wanted to already have these ready for it. I was 99% sure that was the style and size I needed, just wanted to make sure before I drop the money on them.

Those are the ones. They will help u cut your 60ft. alot because of the hook factor. I use Nitto DR's for the street but on the track the MT's go on. I puchased another set of stock rims and mounted my MT's on those so I can switch them out prior to track run.

One more quick question, but I can take DR's to any local tire shop and they would get mounted and balanced like any normal street tire right. Nothing special about them in that regard?

I had a few places locally tell me they would not do it because I was using a racing tire. I did find a Goodyear tire store that was willing to mount and balance my Hoosiers.

Yes that is the correct size. I use to run Salad Shooters with those 255 ET Streets and I cut 1.6's no problem. They are really nice on the street too. I sold mine and went to M/T Slicks and just sold them to my dad to get ET Streets again.

My dad just the other day took my tires and drag wheels over to a local tire shop who mounted and balanced them no problem.

One word of advice: look at the websites for different drag radial manufacturers and compare the weights of their tires (kinda important in drag racing, rotating mass) in the size you need. I did and it was a real eye opener.

i had the 255/50r16 mt,s and cut 1.50 60 ft i now have 325/50/15 inch mt dr,s.the small ones worked real good track and street.jegs/summit sells them cheap.

I was all set on the P255/50R16 26X10.50R16's but then I saw that some people are putting P295/50R16 28X11.50R16 on there stock rims. Think I should make the step up in width? Only thing I'd be worried about is my street tires are 275/40/17's so the 26" tall tire would be the same height as those and wouldn't affect the speedo or anything. I'm not sure how the 28" tire would affect my RPM's through the traps, driving to the track, ect. Sorry about the tire newbie questions.

What's your gear ratio and trap speed? Do you notice where your RPM is when you cross the line?
A taller tire will bring down the RPM, which you only want if you're running out of gear (hitting redline in 3rd before the trap). Otherwise it will slow you down.

Ok thats what I needed to know. I'm trapping 110 mph and have a 3.73 gear and have a little RPM to spare before redline in 3rd. So I'll just get the 26" tall tires. My brother will be using these tires at the track as well and he has 3.23 gears.

I'm trapping around the same and I have 2.73 gears, so I have a lot of RPM left in third. If they made a drag tire smaller than 26" for my car I would buy it to get the revs up.
