Default Eliminating pop-up lights?

Ok I have been doing searches after searches to try and find a write up about how to eliminate the pop-up headlights that T/As and firebirds have.... so far no luck.... I have seen pics of someone who fabricated some covers and everything to install projectors and all but have not been able to find it...

my question is, has anyone eliminated them and went to HID? I am looking to change the look drastically by eliminating the pop-ups and want to know how without spending the $1200 for the kit off ebay. The kit off ebay looks like Z06 headlights that replace the stock poppers and I want that look! Can anyone help me?!

Did you look in the Lighting FAQ?
https://ls1tech.com/forums/appearanc...hting-faq.html
There are some threads in there that point to some more threads. Maybe the thread you are looking for is in there somewhere.

I just ran through a lot of those threads that seemed like they would be it and most of them had the idea of what i want but stuck them in the pop ups.... so it kinda defeated the purpose i'm trying to do... I wanna eliminate the pop up lights all together... heres a pic of what i wanna do....

I know what you are trying to do and some of the threads in there talked about it. Also, from what I hear, not only is that kit expensive, but the quality doesn't come close to the price and they aren't HID.

Did you see these threads about fixed headlights?

If I find more, I'll post it.

Those links were contained in threads posted in the Lighting FAQ. Just now, I organized them into their own section in the Lighting FAQ so they are easier to find.

Don't those still use a sealed beam? Looks like it. Kind of defeats the purpose I'd think.

Yes that kit uses a sealed beam for the low beam. And that high beam reminds me of a fog light.

Please be polite and on-topic. I don't want to see this thread bogged down with bickering.

wow....read all the new links you put up VIP1 and seems like if I don't wanna spend 1k on seemingly worthless setup from breathless then I would have to do it custom... =/ alright well I guess I'll just go with Upgrading the lights for now then when I finally get time/knowledge on how to modify the whole front end...then I'll do it all! and a write up will follow of course!

So you want HID quality and don't want to pay the price for a conversion.
I say make a cast of some firebird headlights using moldable lexan or something similar and replace them with that and wire in some projectors or an HID kit. That seems like the best course of action. It'd be alot of fabrication though.

Are you in the right thread? The $1000 fixed headlight kit is not HID. In fact, it still uses Sealed Beam Halogen bulbs. I have projectors & HID on my Formula. My setup can be replicated for under $300. My projectors are in the popups though. Actually, with whats available on the market now, you can get a better setup than I have and still spend less than $300.

I was looking to replace the pop ups with just cover lenses, thentint them with the night shades, and then put in hids/projectors... like make it more modern then the pop ups cuz I wouldn't trade my formula for nothing! lol just trying to personalize it a lil so it stands out lol but yeah I will do some fabricating on it! lol
