I saw this while i was doing a search for a turbo kit for a Nova that a buddy of mine is putting together.
He didn't even o-ring the heads and ran his times on moderate boost.
Some guys on here are in the thread too

Ya he is a local guy to me, knows his **** builds 6 sec cars. He is in wyoming and the car has gone 8.619 at 166.89 at bandimere in colorado at 5800ft elevation. He said that pass was on like 19# of boost and he is turning up the boost next season. I forsee very low 8s or high 7s next season.

^^^ He stated in that thread that with the 5.3 block and the 3 mm overbore he had cylinder walls so thick that he says with a bigger motor he would have to deal with alot of sealing issues. I am on the same bandwagon of "bigger and better" when it comes to cubes and turbos but he proves that big power can be made with a moderate size motor.

I just picked up a 99 TA this weekend with a broke engine for $2k. I was thinking of doing a 347 aluminum block engine or a a fall back 370 iron block engine. After alot of thinking I am begining to lean towards a 347 5.3L iron block based engine. I am not looking for ET or HP records. Just a fun cheap street car. If he can run high 8's on 17'lbs then I will settel for some high 9's out of my heap when finished.
