Anyone on here have their hatch on actuators? Push of a button and it raises to fully open/closed. If so, tell me about(actuators, wiring, etc..)

That would be pretty cool. I just dont know how expensive linear actuators are. im thinking about $200-300 bucks each. but i may be wrong.

Yep,actuators are around 200. I have seen this done on two fbods at various car shows, but was never able to track down the owners to get the specifics. I know I only need one actuator. It's is just eliminating the factory locking mechanism and the correct path of travel that is tricky.

It just hit me. You can accomplish the same thing without actuators. I remembered, when i had my car in the shop and the spoiler was off, when i would hit the trunk release button. the lack of extra weight on the hatch allowed the 2 hatch struts to lift the hatch all the way up under their own power. This wouldnt happen once i put the spoiler back on. What Im going to try is to buy an extra set of hatch struts and just double them up. they will be the same length abnd might just compensate for the extra weight of the spoiler. IF it works, as soon as i hit my hatch release the hatch should rise on its own. but shutting it will still require a good push tho.

You might want to replace the spring with a stronger one too.

Except I replaced the stock spring instead of a piggy-back setup.

The upside is that the hatch opens almost all the time now instead of the crap-shoot with the stock spring.
The downside is that it now requires more force to close the hatch.

I think the motor looks to bulky and I don't know were you could mount it with the motor. I would like one to look as stock as possible in a stock location.

Ok I measured my struts and they are 29.5" fully extended so I think this actuator would be the best. It extends to 30.88 and retracts to 18.88" and I think I could hide the motor in the stock rear quarter panels($129.99).

I can't decide whether or not to used two actuators or use just one. With two I am afraid of them not cooperating and twisting the hatch. I'll have to research and see if anybody has found out how to get the two to work together seamlessly.

2 definitely. You do NOT want to twist a fiberglass hatch.

For the unlock, you could have it activate the trunk pop button at the same time it turns the actuators on for opening. That would unlatch it and open it up.

I would defintely use two actuators, like faster_n_you98 said you do not want to twist a fiberglass hatch. The issue would be getting the latch to open/close with the actuators. When you have the bigger spring in there it makes it harder to close the trunk as well, I just hope those actuators could push enough force to engage the latch.
