Default 263/242 110 (g5x3ish) VE table needed

I've been working on the idle tuning of my motor. I've got it running pretty well on the maf/pe stock style blended tune but when I disabled the maf to try to tune the VE table, I had a heck of a time trying to get it dialed in. I kept adjusting according to the ltft's and it kept wanting more fuel. I don't think my O2 sensors are very happy with me now. I feel that I may have fouled them out if that is possible.. I would like to try to find a ballpark table to start from if someone could email me theirs that would be great. Email me at: fdls6 at comcast dot net. Thanks,
Bryan

So in your sig I see you have a wideband and your own hp tuners.... You should have no issues tuning that thing yourself.

Drop it into speed density and open loop and use the wideband feedback to correct your ve table. Using trims are going to take you places you dont want to go.

Use the tools you have now and tune that thing.

You need to disable L-Trims and zero them out. In closed loop speed density, set up a histogram logging short term fuel trims. Make sure your O2 sensors are warmed up good before you begin recording. With the average S-Trims, you can modify your VE table until the S-Trims are close to 0% or slightly negative. Once you have your VE table to where you like it, you can reactivate your MAF and recheck your S-Trim histogram. Based on the errors, you can rescale your MAF airflow to match your dynamic airflow. Finally, you can enable L-Trims and enjoy better street manners.

Hello,

Unfortunatley, I do not currently have a wideband. I sold my plx and will be purchasing an ngk afx shortly, so open loop isn't a good tuning option for me right now.

Yes, I was trying to tune it using the correction percentage in the fuel trims, however it was so far off that I think I ended up fouling a plug last night. The motor is fresh and I don't want to overfuel it for long. I'm really just looking for a ballpark ve table from someone who has a similar setup to get me started and to help prevent fouling and cylinder fuel washdown.

Thanks in advance
Bryan

A cam the size of the X3 is going to need about 20-25% less fuel in the 400-1200 rpm range and 15% less around 1600 rpm (assuming stock injectors and offsets). You should be pulling fuel in the low rpm ranges, not adding it. Keep the motor in closed loop and tune off of S-Trims if you don't have a wideband.

Thanks,

That taper off at the lower rpms is the rule of thumb that I had heard before. I started about there. I was trying to tune off the trims, and they kept going positive so I kept adding more fuel. It didn't seem right, so that's how I ended up here, looking for a ve that was in the ball park to start from.

The key is to work off of S-Trims only. Turn L-Trims off and zero them out. Otherwise, you'll be chasing your tail.
