Street Racing & Kill Stories - Sore loser lost - worst excuse ever

I have a 1994 Toyota Supra Turbo and I raced a 2002 Trans Am W6 at atco raceway this summer. The first race I had a good launch but towards the end I back off the gas. I did this on purpose to let the TA ower build up his ego and talk all the smack he wanted. The next race I told him, okay this race I'm gonna go all out. He's standing there telling me how I'm gonna lose b/c I don't have a downpipe installed, boost controller installed, no tune and most importantly I didn't put on my Nitto tires. He said he never backed off the gas any one of his races.

Just when it was about to rain we raced down the drag strip and I whopped his ass. I remembered when I was making my pass I looked over. Oh man, I wished I had the look on his face on video. He had this biggest dumbfound look ever. After we got out of our cars it was as if I stole that smile right off this face. He was pissed and called me a douchebag. So I asked "why am I a douchebag". he replied "b/c i tell you everything i've done to my car and you don't tell me anything you did to yours". I replied "What before the race I let you look under my hood and trunk, what else you want to know"?.

Then he made up an excuse. "Oh, my A/C was on". okay what does your AC have to do with this race. I still whopped you.

Then he made up the worst excuse ever. "When we raced there was a big red truck in front of us so I backed off the gas". lamo excuse b/c I remembered making my pass and there was no big red truck in sight. Even if there was a big red truck I should've been the one slowing down since I was in the lead and going much faster then he was. My car was trapping at 120 MPH when he was only doing 109.

Come on, I think that is the worst excuse ever. How many times do you go drag racing and when you cross the 1/4 mile mark there was another car in your way? LOL.

At least come up with a better excuse like, oh, i missed 7th gear or oh, I forgot to fill up my NOS bottle.

its twin turbo and i was running on street tires that day. (goodyear eagle f1's) the TA had nitto 555 DR. I also have the same ones but left it at home that day.

I'm gonna have to agree with the rest of these guys.. a bolt on supra trapping 120 but an f-body with 20k dumped into it is only trapping 108? Riiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiigghht.

I played with one of them 800hp supras on the street once. It had a full cage and slicks and I just wanted to see it go so we did a full short pulls 20 to 80mph ish. I would pull a few lengths on him everytime. It was disappointing. about a month later I see him racing up at MIR. He broke it twice on the line and the other two runs he made were both 150+mph yea couldn’t get better then a 12.1

If I'm correct he dumped close to $18k in his t/a I remember he did engine work, exhaust and suspension upgrades for close to $10k then the follower summer or 2 summers later he did more engine work and got a 12 bolt rear end b/c he said his car has too much power for the 10 bolt rear end. I'm not exactly sure what kind of engine work but I think he got cams, upgrade some kind of springs so that it revs higher, port/polish and a tune. He got it dynoed and pushed close to 398 HP to the wheels.

It traps around 120 but it's no were near stock and runs on slicks. Normally runs around a 11.7

Supras are mid 13 second cars on days cooler than 70F with low humidity With a really good driver. Throw a little heat and humidity into the equation and they are slower than that.

With that much in the motor, and only 398 to the wheels, he is a fucking moron, and to boot, can't drive for shit (damn, he drives worse then me lol). You can do 243's for $500, Used exhaust (LTs ORY, catback) for about $500, cam kit for $700 through a sponsor, gears for $500 installed, ls6 mani for $350 so long as it isn't broken upon shipment (:bang:), and DR's for whatever they cost. That right there should be 390+, and trapping anywhere from 112-116 cam and tune depending. Hell...$1000 for install, and $500 for tune...that still comes out to a total of less than $4000, installed, on a budget build. Guy doesn't know wtf he is doing, or is just the worse driver imaginable, even by my standards.

well i raced a completely zooted up TT supra running race fuel and i totally destroyed it with a stock t\a. i was trapping 315mph and he was around 99mph. true story! no bash against supras here though they're a great car with the right driver.

What I got done to my supra is intake, exhaust and upgraded front mount intercooler which makes a huge difference. Oh and yeah your right, my supra hates the hot weather. When it's hot & humid it does seem to boost less then before.

400 can do 112 at a min. My buddies cam only car did 115 in Tucson heat with 407 at the wheels...I did 114 with a bad tune in Phoenix heat 2 weeks ago. Tune is a little better, so hopefully 116 or so with ~415-420 hp.

About him bouncing the limiter....though I still think the T/A guy is a douche (though honestly, with your initial post, I am not counting you out either), it coulde be because of the factory tach. First and 2nd lag (I know my car does at least..bad), and if he is shifting higher, say 7k like I do, first will hit (in my car) 7200 rpm limiter while the tach reads ~ 6300, and 2nd gear will bounce the limiter at 6500. So that could be his issue. But even me bouncing my limiter in 2nd, and 3rd (prayed it would hold out to the end of the track...it didn't :(), I still trapped 112 in 4200 DA. So he can't drive at all would be my guess.

supras don't boost less with more heat and humidity. The pressure coming out of the turbo is the same, but because the air coming in is hotter it is less dense,ie less oxygen, which means less power. A bigger intercooler will help but not much because supras already run a big intercooler stock. A bigger intercooler also will not compensate for higher ambient temperature. Getting out the bug sprayer and spraying the intercooler with ice water just before you run will help a little.

I think you could run a mid 12 at around 110 with a hell of a launch. BUT, a supra will not trap anywhere near 117-120 with just an intercooler, intake, and exhaust on the stock fuel cut and stock boost. You would need around 400 to the wheels to trap much over 115, and you aren't going to make that much with the fuel cut and stock boost. If you are saying you have under 400 to the wheels and think you can still trap 117+ with how much your car weighs, then you know very little about drag racing. If you are saying you have 400 or more to the wheels on the stock fuel cut and boost, then you're a liar (about your mods or in general).

Without a BCC, your car can't boost more than 14 (or 15) psi. The computer cuts fuel. It happened to me a few times when I did not have a BCC. Once that happens, all the check engine lights come on, but it does not go into limp mode. Supras @ 18psi and pump gas dyno between 390-410whp. Assuming you're only running 14 psi, you're probably near 350whp. Is that enough for 117mph trap? It's possible but highly unlikely.

Also, an intake hardly yields more power.

BTW, a top of the line Trans Am convertible was $32k new in 2002, with the coupe being $28k and a Supra was $40k new in 1994. Bone stock, the Trans Am is a hair quicker than the TT Supra. It all goes out the window though when you start modding.

'Arctic '00' on here '00 LS1 trapped close to 120mph in the 1/4 with 35Xrwhp - bolt-on only car with a good setup and light weight. Many guys won't see traps like that in heads/cam cars. Depends on a lot more than just horsepower!

As far as this thread goes, the only way I can see the 117 trap not being BS (wasn't it 120 originally? where did 117 come from?) is if the timers at the track were wrong. Last time my brother went to the track his 1/4 mile mph was accurate, but the 1/8 mph was way high. Clearly a problem with the timing equipment.

I have a 1994 Toyota Supra TT Automatic all stock expect for the following: Tanabe Racing Medallion Exhaust, Blitz SUS Air Intake w/heat shield.
My best time at the track was 13.58, I was told that with DR I should expect 1 sec off that. So I'm guessing with Nittos DR I should expect 12.58 1/4 time.

He ran a 13.58 with exhaust and intake in his automatic supra and he thinks Nitto DRs will take a second off.

Here's are the exact times:

60ft 2.218
330 5.914
1-8th 8.868
MPH 82.6
1000ft 11.428
1-4mile 13.588
MPH 105.14

My last 60ft time was 2.218 that was with Goodyear Eagle F1's. I'm guessing my 60ft time would be under 2sec with Nitto 555 DRs.

BTW, the fuel cut isn't in reference to your actual fuel system (injectors, pump, etc.), it's an electronic limiter that cuts off fuel and limits boost to 14-15 psi.

There is no way your slushbox supra is trapping 117 with the mods you are claiming. So quit trying to bullshit everyone and tell the truth, either that you are more modded than claimed or that you lied.

Race the short dude with a big ego, knock him out and post up the time slip. Its been pretty decent weather in Chicago, don't know how it is in Philly. If you ever come through chicago, let me know, I want to see if my old lt1 can hang with the big tt supra. It just has boltons, cam, nothing much.

A bolt on f-body isn't fast... period.

Heads/Cam f-body cars aren't fast either, so put that into perspective as well.

Nothing to be surprised about. Unless you considered a blower/intercooler setup a bolton.

I daily drive mine. I doubt you'd outrun me but that is bench racing and I don't actively participate in that. You ran your mouth now back it up. Of course the Supra guy is still a douchenozzle but you are quickly becoming number two on that list with the excuses you are coming up with.

There is no excuse I took out my motor that is on me I had no idea this dude really thought his supra would run fast if I would have known that I would have left the motor in that simple, a bolt on Fobdy is fairly fast for a daily driven car, and if you don't agree withthat then IDK what to tell you anything daily driven that is in the 11's is quick, daily driven in the 10s is fairly fast anything faster then 9.99 and daily driven is fast. Now as far as track cars its not anywhere near fast but for a car that is driven EVERY day rain or shine it's quick.

It's called bad timing, I dont see ANY other board member saying a dam word bro, I tried setting him up with a bolt on FBody but he said he wants me. Which is perfectly fine I don't mind.
