HELP! 305/45R18 555Rs rub slightly btm lip of bumper
I just had some nearly new Nitto DR's installed on my formulas 18x9 rears. They are huge, bow slightly(as meant for 18x9.5-11), and are rubbing ever so slightly at the bottom of the wheel well. Just the plastic lip that folds in, actually on the most forward portion of the bumper cover. I will have pics up tonight hopefully, but I need some ways this has been fixed before. I've seen pics somewhere of a guy trimming both sides on his T/A, but can't rember where. Also, actually lowering the car up to a 1/2 in would help too, but I don't really have that much to spare up top! Some one please throw me the miracle fix here.... They're a lil close on the inside too, so wheel spacers would help there, but make it worse in other places(top/back). So thats not an option.
Thanks everyone,
Nick

So they rub in the front side of the wheelwhell? As in, sitting on the left side of the car, looking at the wheel, the left side of the wheelwell?
Sounds like you need to do the BFH mod. Big f*ckin' hammer. Literally pull the wheel off, and start beating the crap out of that side of the wheelwell with a hammer.

I got a couple taken, but can't figure out posting them. I searched many times for help but couldn't find directions. I know i've seen them.....
But, actually it the "most forward point of the bumper", so if looking at L side of car, it's the R side of the tire, very bottom of wheel well lip. Just the plastic that folds around the lip, securing the front of the bumper.
oh ya, and they're over 28" for sure!!!

Ya, I was about five min from either taking a cutting wheel to my bumper or blowing part of my cam fund on some adjustable LCAs, this evening, but when i pulled the areas lil black tabs and pulled the bottom of the bumper an inch or so away from the metal support behind, it helped the gap a bunch.
So I've ended up, for now, with two 2.5" long Alum brackets (w/ holes 2" apart) on each side, to separate the bumper about 2" wider at btm. They've gained close to an inch from back of the tire, but also noticable is the vast improvement in tread covered. Which definately can be important to looks, and crap not getting slung on my bumper, with 11.5" DRs.. It looks so much better from the side and back. And it would take a real F'car guy to notice the bottom flaring out... Leme know what ya think.

Im really doubtfull they will fit the 18x9 rims. I think they're made for 18x10-12. These are supp to fit 18x9.5s, so really i felt much safer stretching them half an inch than 1...
And I found these used, locally, with about 30 miles on them and the full 6/32s all around. 1 small scar on the inner wall of one, but I got an incredible deal on them.. and if i sold these, then paid the diff for the more expensive 35 A.R.'s, and they didn't fit, I just might cry.. Man, Im still highly considering Adj LCAs. I just ordered new poly LCA bushings, cause I think mine are the source of the irritating squeeking over every bump, but I may send em back and just upgrade to the whole Adj trailing arm...
