Dyno Guesses & Bench Racing Forum - Calling all knowledgable 4v guys

A buddy of mine has a white 2001 GT with an aviator motor swapped in it with "just bolt-ons". His Dyno on motor put down 350/340. He recently raced a local Z06 with a forged bottom end stock displacement stock heads and intake with a cam and a vortech that dyno'd "580" to the ground at Futral motorsports.
The outcome of their race on the highway was that they would be locked down until right at the top of the gear and the vette would slightly edge away and by 130 or so the vette had won by only a car length.
I call bs on all the mods to the GT but all the ford guys keep saying is that that happens when you know what to do with a 4v. I'm not an idiot and I do understand how good mod motors are but a car with more weight alot less power and short gears should be nowhere near that vette on the highway.
What do you guys think?

I think I want to go dyno my car near you! How did they get their cars on the Moon? I'm excited! I will be the first stock block 331 to reach 600rwhp N/A!!! :D Please PM me so I can figure out what I need to do to get my car there.
Seriously though, way too little information here. Get more information and we can help you more. 350/340 is possible. Not with just bolt ons but by the way you say it there might be more than just bolt ons.

The only way that combo would touch a Z06 with those mods would be with a 150+ shot and a lot of luck.
350rwhp is a bit high for stock compression, heads and cams.

Unless its fully gutted and on bigs and littles you are correct. A stock 4v with bolt ons will not hang with a bolt on Z06 up to 130mph.

That mustang is making more than that to keep up with a 3100# 580hp vette. A guy on M1R made 343rwhp w/ his mach motor (same as aviator) and with a raceweight of 3000lbs w/ driver he trapped 120 in race trim. That still won't hang with that vetter. He is hiding something.

Agreed, but neither a blower from a GT500 or a Ford GT would fit on a 4.6 4V...not without spending some serious coin.

He still wouldn't be putting down enough power N/A to beat a blown vette...or even a cammed Z06 at that.
5.4L with bolt ons will net that power though.

Dude, if you want to know what I have done to the car just ask. I'm not lying about shit.
It's a '99 GT with a 4V swap
Stock 2005 Aviator long block - stock compression, untouched heads, stock rotating assembly, heads have never been off of the short block
Stock 2001 Cobra intake cams, stock 2005 Aviator exhaust cams
Ported Mach 1 intake
Untouched long block
Bolt ons
No nitrous, all motor.
The car made 354/353 2 years with several minor issues and 29* of timing up top. I have since got a new tune with a spot on MAF curve and timing curve (with less timing, BTW), made some minor additions/changes and it runs a hell of a lot stronger than it did back then.
The car has a little weight reduction, it is in the 3050 range without me in the car. Jacob and Cory have looked the car over, there is no big secret.
All you had to do is PM me, thick.

Hi :smokin2:
Hey Ben...how have you been? I was wondered at some point if it could have been you, but i recalled you having a P/P intake.....counted that out when I read the OP stated stock HCI.
IIRC, your numbers were STD no?...regardless; I'll say two things:
A) ben has a very nice and stout setup. I won't doubt he's running 340+RWHP.
BUT...........
B) Bullshit on killing a Cammed FI'd Vette unless he had some MAJOR MAJOR fucked up situation goin' on.
BTW - no one mentioned WR....not that 300 less pounds than the vette would make up 200+RWHP.
EDIT: not to mention OP stated 'just bolt ons'. A tad misleading with a Ported intake and Cobra cams.

Not only did it happen, but it happened a good 7 times with similar results and was verified by the owner. This isn't the first car with similar power numbers that I have raced with similar results. Lightweight and a strong mid-range shouldn't be underestimated, horsepower does not always win the race.
This Vette is actually fast, one of the faster local cars I have tangled with.
To each his own, I have no desire to enter into a bench racing competition. What happened, happened, I do not care whether I convince this board or anyone else, it just doesn't matter that much to me.

It looks like the OP was misunderstanding of your setup or left some things out. Regarding the race though...IDT anyone can conceive of that happening. There are plenty of people that know what a good midrange lightweight car can do and HP isn't everything.
Some people care, some don't, but my two cents is yes your car is strong and not something to take lightly even by comparison of typical 4V setups, however I keep to my opinion of BS on you hanging with him assuming that vette was running right. Even with a shitty driver. YOu also have ot understand that that Z with a proper cam and blower will have a nice midrange as well.

It seems that you are upset with the fact that I came somewhere else to find other people's opinions on the race between you and Cory. It's nothing personal against you or Matt but you can see from the replies in here from not only Chevy but Ford people as well that it is hard to perceive the outcome between you and the Z16.

Ding ding ding! Nothing is special about this Mustang and it doesn't matter if Pluto was lined up with our moon...this Mustang isn't going to hang within a 2 mile radius of a forged, cammed, blown C5 Z06 unless one of the things Unit said was true. If I had to guess and I've met them plenty of times and used to be one...I'd be willing to bet Ben99GT is one of those sneaky little street racers. Everywhere you go will have one or more of them. Nothing is ever special about the cars, its all in how the race is setup, and the driving skills.
