Default GM Racing Indy Motor

Noticed a motor we have sitting around in our lab here at school. It's a motor they used to use in the indy series when gm had the contract for the engines. Pretty badass if you ask me. I cant wait to take that class (internal combustion engines)

I dunno about that. The VE on Indy motors is crazy high though, not 18psi high I dont think.

that is just what i heard take it with a grain of salt. They are supposed to have enough downforce to "drive" upsidown at like 120mph though.

Yes, that is certainly true. I remember watching the episode of Top Gear where the guy got to drive an F1 car, he was saying how he had to accelerate INTO the corners to have enough downforce to carry him through. Crazy fast cars.

gm should apply that to streetcars.. could you imagine a solstice/sky sized car with a 3 liter v8 that revs to like 16k rpms? thatd be awesome.

That would be awesome, but not very cost effective.

well the fuel consumption would be out the *** for anyone turning that kinda rpm plus the cost of making that intake system would be ridiculous...individual throttle bodies plus the entire thing is carbon fiber. not to mention the gear driven dual overhead cam system

also you have the wear on all the parts; bearings, rings, valve springs,... it would not last long

Don't one of the F1 motors nowadays have to make it like 3 races or something like that?
