Default deck measurement.

what is the best way to measure how far the piston is down in the hole at tdc. Im getting new headgaskets and im wanting to run a thinner one then the .041 ones I have now.

Dial indicator. Zero on the deck, slide over to piston.

thats what I thought. So I do have a magnetic type, and is I set it on the deck and then zero that out and then slide it over
