Default Longer pushrods?

Ok, I know this is probably posted somehwere but I couldn't locate it so I'm throwing it out here. I'm putting a LS6 cam in my '01 LS1. Now I've read that these cams have a smaller base cirlce so they need longer pushrods to make up the difference. Is this true, or can I get by with using my original LS1 pushrods? Thanks!

Also, if it does require longer pushrods how long do they need to be?

The standard size is normally 7.450 but you should measure yours to make sure. No better way to get the right size than to measure first. Esp if the heads have been milled

That is the standard sized pushrod when using that cam in a non LS6 headed application

Last time I measured my stock pushrods they were 7.385" (gauge length). 7.450" sounds a tad too long unless that is what is being recommended due to the LS6 cam.

Those are sometimes the norm when using the LS6 cam due to the difference in valve height, and to use the stock pushrod, and the smaller base circle of the LS6 cam. BUT those are with completely stock setup. If the heads are milled, or anything is changed, then the length should def be checked

I have measured a couple cams and this is what I came up with. Stock base circle: 1.53" Comp 222/222: 1.48" Thunder 224/224: 1.48" So they seem to be .050 smaller. Divide by 2 bc we need the difference in radius and you get .025. Then apply that to the stock length of 7.400 and get 7.425.
