Any tricks on getting treesap or glue out of convertible top?

Any tricks on getting treesap or glue out of convertible top? My convertible top has about a 2" x 1/2" mark in it, looks like tree sap or glue anyone have any tips, tricks, or advice? I talked to RagTop and they said they didn't think their stuff would get it out.
