Default Daily Driven car owners.. Do you still have a screened MAF?

I've got 170k miles on my T/A and still have a screened MAF. Considering cutting it out. Everyone else I know of that has cut theirs out rarely ever drive their cars..... I'm wondering how many folks put plenty of miles on one w/ the descreened MAF. Thoughts?

117k miles on my daily driver and I havent had a screen now for about 3yrs. Cant say it helped, but haven't had any problems. I'm about to get rid of it all together though when I install my FAST 92 soon.

Descreened and ported factory MAF ends for me, and no problems at all.

I'm getting my car tuned tomorrow... I'm wondering if it'll make a difference. I saw a video where 2 guys compared a screened LS1 to a non-screened LS1, but I don't hold a ton of value in that video.

no screen two years, no problem, make sure your air filter is in there.

I like knowing that just in case the filter isn't doing it's job, the screen will... to an extent. Granted, in the 7 years and 170k miles I've driven it, I've yet to see anything get in the screen. I guess it's more of "peace of mind" than anything else.

Then leave it there. It doesn't gain anything anyway. Mine is descreened btw.

Mine is descreened and I am running a cone filter set up. No problems with the MAF or any crap getting past the filter.

No screen either. I daily drove mine most of the summer with no issues. I put a new seal around the lid and that was it.

The "screen" in the MAF is not there as a secondary filter, it it there to straighten airflow through the device and reduce turbulent flow. Removing it does allow slightly more flow into the engine, which changes the calibration of the MAF to the engine.

In other words, if you have a tune, you may not see any gains from removing your screen.

I've had my screen out for over 3 years now, but if it gives you peace of mind to leave it in, then it's probably not worth it to take it out.

Plus, very little, if any gains are usually seen from this.
(At the end of the day, if you have 170k miles on it....then you're doing something right)
