STS Upgrades
I have done some searching but it still leaves me with questions.
Im doing a sts rear mount on a 2000 ls1.
I have the original kit with the front mount intercooler and the stock sts PCV system and the oil return pump.
I want to make this the best an sts kit can be (without making it a front mount ) So what all parts do i need to upgrade the kit with? I was going to go with the Mocal pump but then i see people having it die after 3k and 5k miles. Any suggestions would be great.

i don't know what size turbo, if your intercooled or what else you may have done... a buddy of mine with his '02 SS made over 550 with the LEP kit in vegas on 100oct. i'v found that those who do not like the rear mount system either have never had it or bolted it up as advertised then disappointed in it's performance. heat wrap, stock manifolds, turbo cam a few other goodies are what you need for the kit to work to it's full potential. my same buddy with a forged LS1 made over 600 with NO LAG what so ever on the street and pumping out 10sec. 1/4miles in vegas
dyno's are also deceiving, my graph drops off at about 4500rpm as does my buddies and our cars on the street pull like a fright train all the way through to 6k

trash there scavenge oil pump. Replace the T-tap wire into the ignition with a butt splice connection.
further details, check out my build. It is a worthy read.

You said you have the original kit, so you might want to consider putting the air filter up in the wheel well like the new kit.
I did it by welding a 4in 90 degree to the old air filter pipe (the one that puts the air filter where the drivers exhaust tip should be) and relocating the exhaust hanger mount. It worked well.

check out my build. For starters, trash their PCV system and go buy the LPE (lingenfelter) 15psi one way valve that is similar to the stock one on our cars.

Heres how I deleted mine.. Using all STS piping. different turbo. Left the STS 1 psi switch in the vacuum line to control when my 2nd walbro pump kicks in..
If you dont have a vented valley cover just forget that line in picture.

Many people run the charge pipe under the axle too.
You could upgrade to v-band clamps so you won't have to worry about blowing out silicone adapters.

For pics of the air filter up in the wheel well check out the sts website for the new f body kit. You can use the original pipe by just adding an extra bend to the end that would normally attach to the turbo inlet and relocating the mounting tab.

What helped mine alot was scrub the entire exhaust with a wire brush to get the rust off then paint the entire exhaust system with high temp paint (black) while it's tacky wrap it with header wrap and soak it with high temp paint too. About three good coats, buy about 6 cans of paint and use all of it. Also get rid of the cats, just find a muffler shop and have them cut them out, and weld in a piece of pipe the same diameter, wrap it too. Sell the cats for scrap and pocket the cash!!!

I think what he is really asking is for a list to be made into a sticky of all the things that need to be done to a STS kit to make it the best it can be. here let me start.
1. Oil Catch can
2. get rid of the sts switch valve
3. change the diameter of the pipes (depending on what turbo you have)
4 get your charge to go under the axle
5. twin fuel pumps, hotwire kit
6. wrap the **** out of your exhaust
7. try to stay close to the stock manifolds and no headers
8. get intercooled
9. get a methanol injection
10. get a nice cam (Z06 or EPP I was told thunder racing has a good cam)
11. Heads (ones appropriate for you app and cam)
12. Intake (you don't want to have really any restrictions)
13. Wideband 02
is there anything missing guys I did this kinda quick
