Default edelbrock carb help

i just recently acquired my dads 81 el camino with a crate 350 and mild cam. it has a 600 cfm( i think ) edelbrock 4 barrel carb. it runs pretty good but it seems like when its hot it hesitates an awful lot.

say im cruising at 55mph and let off for about 5 seconds. i step into it gently and it stumbles slightly then picks right up.

also, if i get it up to operating temp after about 10 minutes and shut it off, it doesnt want to start right away. it requires about 10 seconds of cranking and stumbles to life eventually. it always smells like fuel when i shut the vehicle off or turn it on when its hot..

so, do i have a choke problem or what? any help is greatly appreciated.

I have a 4 bbl Edlebrock to...my truck does the same exact thing. Ive tried tunning it, adjusting...you name it and nothing worked. Im ditching it and going with a holley or BG.

Ebay is your friend. I get them for about 60$ and rebuild for 40$, a hundo in and you got yourself a good carb.

Since you already bought the holley it might not matter.

But from what you're describing, it soulds like the accelerator pump is mis-adjusted.
