Default Metal T-Tops

I was just wondering if anyone has every tried to make T-Tops outta metal. like cut a piece of metal out and slip it where the glass goes. I thing it would look cool with it painted the same as the car.

Why not just scuff and paint the glass if you were going to go through all the trouble. Pick up some used T-Tops and try it out. I love the way my car looks, but mine is white so everything is either white or black and I like that.

somebody had made them out of the hardtop SMC panel that was cut out for a t-top conversion, put the cut smc into the frame of a busted t-top, looked alright. I think the car was white.

ive only seen it on race cars, where youre not allowed to have glass t-tops. they removed the glass, cut and fit sheetmetal to replace it, and installed as usual.

not a bad idea, you get the look of a hardtop with the same function as t-top.

Nah, it isn't scrapped at all... The guy I hired for it is scrapped but we just started back on it again.

To the OP, you can easily make them out of metal. The factory just glues the brackets to the glass. Break the glass, clean all the shards off the bracket, glue your new roof (metal, fiberglass, whatever won't bow and fly off) on.

As soon as I have a day off (hoping tomorrow) I'm shipping our piece off for final touches...

there was a fox body mustang we were working on in our auto class that had a T-Top and we decided to put a metal on top of it instead of class. worked out pretty well...
