Default Speed Shops i need a new cam info please

I got a 98 camaro (speed inc has seen this car) with AFR heads milled to 11.0to 1 compression. FLT stage5 4L60E with a SS4000 stall, 28 tall tire, and a 3.70 gear. FAST intake soon to be ported and NW throttle body and Z06 MAF. i run a 100 shot but vary rarely. Would like for it to rev to about 6,500 - 6,700 RPMs i'm gonna shift 6,000ish - 6,200max.

DRIVIN A LOT i don't care if it lopes or not i'm wanting to make 420 to 450 rwhp without N2O with the cutouts behind the headers open couldn't care less what it makes going through the full exhaust. Just a real streetable set up that not gonna kill my motor like my current cam (Comp LS1 Custom camshaft : SI6 235/240 .643"/.609" 111 LSA +1) this cam is not to extreme for me i'm just hearing its bad on the top end and i currently got the motor out trying to find a tapping noise

ok speed shops what yall go to offer ??? and people feel free to tell what cams in similar built LS1s and what powerlevels please

THANKS

There is not much wrong with your current cam. You wont find much gains in a cam change.

That cam worked great for me. Had it in for 2 years. Made 454 rwhp thru and auto. 348 by the way.

Generally you want to rev your motor @ least 200- 300 rpm higher than where it makes peak power. Your converter seems to match your current cam but your gearing and tire height seem to be setup for alot of nitrous which would blow through your converter. If you want to optimize your car on motor all you need is to put more gear under it. With the 28 inch tire you prob need @ least 4.30 gears or you could keep the gear you have change converters and spray the car with @ least 175. If you want to shift your car around 6200 you need alot smaller cam than what you have. Heck a 224 duration @.050 cam usually makes power to 6500. If you optimized you setup you have your car should run mid to low 10's easy on motor. A real good cam for those heads is a cam Tony Mamo recommends alot is a Comp grind. Specs are like 224/230 @.050 .581/.588 lift, 112 LSA. Not sure on the grind number, but, you could call AFR and ask him. He is the one who designed those heads and he is always real helpful with info.

thanks guys thats the kinda feed back i was lookin for my car made 449rwhp with a unported FAST but it only pulled to 6100 then flat lined we figured it was the unported FAST ??? i haven't put the 28s on yet i still have a little tread on my 26s but this cam isn't causing any unnessary harm to my top end i may keep it then what would be a good converter then ??? a nitrous/blower 4000 stall ???

i'm also running a 348ci LS1

That cam should peak around 6300 and carry to 7000 rpm. At least it did for me. I have seen 7200 rpm on spray with my shortblock with no issues. I would shift at 6900-7000 with that cam. If your looking to shift that low I would use a 224 cam or maybe the el torro cam.

G5X3 on a 112 would do the trick. Similar to your actual cam but less lift, XER/XER Vs your cam LSK/XER lobes.

well my plains to get a new cam came a lot from me being told that came was bad on the top end cause right now i'm chasing a tick noise. but if it isn't bad then i might just keep it my car peaks around 6100 or 6200 so maybe after i port the fast it will peak a little higher i have found that my car runs its fast times shifting at peak it seams to loss momentum if i shift around 6500 to 7000. ???

so if the cam isn't harmfull i just need new lifters and a stall to be back up and running
