Default calling out 6LE designs

Hey Mark,
I was just thinking that maybe you should try and reproduce some Sail panels for our Fbodies.I'am sure more than 50.% of the cars here have bubbles in their panels do to the factory glue.I really think it would be a great product with high demand.just a thought.

Doesn't GM replace them for free? I thought they knew about the problem and were replacing the sail panels. I could be mistaken, though.

there was someone on here who used a piece of vinyl to cover the whole sail panel and it looked great. hopefully he will chime in here.

It would be nice if someone could make a sail panel that used 3M tape that could be painted and placed directly over the existing panel. I think I read somewhere that there would be fitment issues with something like this, but it sure would be an easy fix if it could be worked out. If someone could design a piece like this they would sell alot of them.

Yea, but it seems like you would still see the bumps underneath

Maybe if you get REALLY lucky. I heard the same thing so I tried several dealerships and even carried in the TSB to all of them but since all the f-bodies are out of warranty, they won't do it for free.

i just talked to him about it last night for you, he said he has no plans to do it. the only thing he has planned that might happen is a cover for it made out of carbon fiber

I was trying to get a carbon fiber piece made about this time last year I think. If I remember VFN said they were thinking about doing something like that. Who knows if that is still on the table or not, but it has been tossed around.

I think the vinyl is just think enough to cover them up. I'm thinking of my bubbles which are fairly small, I have seen some that are peeling larger than the size of a quarter so I don't know how it would turn out with that.

you can always buy one from the dealer and do it yourself... its not part of the body... its just stuck on with some adhesive, stick a screw driver underneath it and peal it off, then clean it up and apply adhesive to the new one.

CF Sail panel is already out there, not sure who makes it though. I knew a guy that was selling one but I thought it looked like complete crap. The idea sounds cool, but seeing it in person made me forget about it.

I would buy a cover in carbon fiber, it would be cheaper then replacing the sail panel.

Has anyone heard of a design like this? This would be an easy fix.
