Default Road race ls1 cam

I posted over in the road race section but didn't get too much. I have a bone stock '02 LS1 with open intake (cone K&N on the MAF) and 1 3/4 shorties with dual 2.5" w/ x-pipe & straight through Magnaflows. It's in a relatively light weight 2600 lb wet w/ me road racer. I'm looking for more power and think a cam is the way to go. I want to be stock reliable and relatively low cost cam/spring only change. I'm thinking the ASA cam is the way to go with the low lift but are getting mixed reviews and the huge overlap and possible tuning issues scares me. I've read many many threads here on this topic but see more varying views than anything and not much specific to road racing. Any other recommendations?

Thanks
Cameron

I've been running my TR224 on road courses and street use since 2004. Lime Rock Park, Pocono, Memphis, and Indy Motorsports Park...drove the car from NJ to each of these and back home.

Got 28mpg on the interstate drive back from Memphis last year, loaded down with tools and slicks.

I'd only run dual valve springs, no single beehives for me. Back in 2004 when the engine went together, I bought a set of Crane springs and had them rate-checked by the shop...two were out of spec and were replaced. Checks were done at installed height, and again at max lift. This is a cost-effective way of quality checking valvesprings and I highly recommend it.

I can't say anything bad about the 224 but your situation sounds so specific I would get a custom cam from Pat G or Pred.

I have a drift car that weighs slightly under 2600lbs its a head and cam car and i love my cam power like everywhere i dont have a dyno sheet, but the butt dyno screams awesomeness. My car is not a daily its a track car so the idle is very choppy and if these specs are too much for you i guess you could get another one specced but i had futral spec me one.

Here is my set up and here is the cam they came up with

stock 99 5.7 short block with arp rod bolts
stage 2.5 prc 5.3 heads
ls6 ported oil pump
ls6 intake
1 7/8 long tubes to 3.5 inch collectors, straight pipes
85mm tb
stock maf with 4 inch intake tube

cam specs are

230* 232*
.595 .585 with 110+4 LSA

its the newer f13 core
