Default installing rear lowering springs question

I did a lot of searching but I didn’t find the answer I was looking for. I am going to be installing some rear lowering springs and I was checking out the LS1Howto.com install but they are replacing both springs AND shocks. Do I really need to get under the rear carpet and unbolt the top of the shocks? If I am only doing the springs so can I unbolt them from under the car? Thanks!

Yes. You just need the rear to drop enough to allow the springs to come out, so unbolting the shocks from the rear axle will be fine.

Yup.

Support the car. Get a jack under the rearend. Unbolt both shocks at the bottom off of the rearend and lower the rear w/ the jack. Its easy.
