Default APS LG upgrade vs Garrett T3/T4

Hi guys

A buddy of mine owns a towing service called last night,
he towed a wrecked 02 TA with a turbo kit.

I looked at it this morning and I be damn it’s a APS kit!!!
The guy that owns the car is in jail for DUI.

I just got done talking to him and he will trade the car for his bail
and $500 and I pay the tow bill.

The car took a light pole in the passenger door and it broke the pass
turbine housing and the drivers down pipe is bent bad.

My question is what Garrett turbo is and equal to the LG upgrade
for the APS.

The turbine wheel and T3 housing A/R are what I’m curious about.

It looks like the T04E comp cover is about the same size as the APS
comp cover so a T3/T4 with a E cover will be the ticket.

garrett don't fit in there. So either run the standard ones.not all of them blew up. mine are ok at 6000 miles, hugger has like 20k on his. Get some new ebay tdo6h center carts or get the lg upgrades. All the above are plug and play. Those are your choices or sell off the kit and put in another kit.

I know that the down pipes won't work but thay look like a T3 flange
pattern and the comp cover looks to be about the same size as T04E.

I was hopping a turbo vender would chime in with a comparison.

they are t25 flanges................we are getting tial to build us some 5-bolt exhaust housing to put gt35r's on a trans am aps kit. the intake tubes and the down pipes will have to be custom built, but it will be really nice when we are done

have you measured them?

they arent normal falnges. APS did that on purpuse so you can just stick any turbo on them.

but to the op. if the passenger side turbine housing is broke. i doubt the kit is worth anything. when you buy the LG upgrade you use your turbine housing and reaplce everything else.

I hope you're successful! Then I'll copy you! I was going to ask VASpeed to cut off and weld on a T3 flange, but I'll wait a little bit longer now.

So nobody knows what they are for sure?

T25? Boy that seems kinda small for the power that people are making
with big cube motors.

If you ask a turbo vender if you can put two T3/T4's on a 350-400 CID
V8 and make a 1000 HP the answer is no there two small.

And you ask them what if they had a P trim turbine and the answer is
the flange is to small.

I,m no expert but the APS flang may not be a T3 but it is damn close.

I bet a T3/T4 in some form will equal the LG power or exceed it.

I'd say Precision SC67 with a stage 5, P trim or GT35R turbine would do it.

It's looking like the tech info I'm looking for will have to come from somewhere else.

Give your post a day and you'll have more answers. Its sunday evening, most of our turbo vendors don't post up on the weekends, we also have a huge F body race coming up some our sponsors are working overtime in getting cars ready and not spending too much time on the net. I do think the APS guys chiming in so far are telling you valid info..

I called forced inductions and that is what they told me they were.................we could still mount a t3 flanged housing to the aps manifolds.........you would just have to do some work on the mill to get some bolt holes to line up.

We should have the gt35 exhaust housings in some time this week and I will let you know how they line up to the aps manifolds.................i will try to snap some pics also

maybe some of the turbo vendors will post here, but for now.....

the aps turbos are based on a mits 20g 45 lb/min looks like the inducer wheel is 52.6

http://www.lgmotorsports.com/catalog...oducts_id=2157

just a guess, but i think the exhaust housing would be around a .82

looks like a gt30xx would be close to the 20g

but the new lg ones are close to a gt35 turbo. and twin gt35s mean real power.

i will post up in about an hour what the flange is

ok the bolt hole pattern is 3 3/16" x 1 3/4"

and hole opening is 2 1/4" x 1 13/16"

and this is a link to a t25 (or TD05) flange. they are NOT the same. the td05 is a standard MIT flange. so if the turbo is off a mit car it will use this flange.

and this a a "standard" t25/t28.

in the picture below. the flange on the top is a T25/ TD05(mit flange) and the on on the bottom is the APS flange.

no way are they the same.

i would just take a turbo to a laser company and say hey. make me this flange out of 3/8" steel then you have on and make an adapter off of it.
