02 Z28 Build Thread - Lots -o -Pics
Brought the car home from the chassis shop yesterday - I am by no means even close to being finished but thought Id share a few pics.
Thanks go out to Rhodes Custom Auto for the chassis work
Fran at Race Proven Motorsports
VFN for an awesome looking hood
Shawn at Virginia Speed for a killer solution to the Crank Trigger
Steve and Chuck at Burkhart for the killer bumper support
More pics to come.

Thanks - Ill get some pics of the corner pieces up later today. I can tell you theyre aluminum and a pain in the ***.
The mid plate was a comp engineering plate that was heavily modified and still needs some trimming as the rear cover bolt head hits the plate.
Engine is a carb'ed small bore 383, Compstar Rods and crank, diamond ~13:1 (+10cc) Nitrous dome pistons, TSP hyd cam, with GTP (formerly Fireball's) heads.
TH400 trans, currently has a standard moser 9 but plan is to narrow and back brace it and go with some new wheels.
Still need to do the direct port nitrous system. Not sure on weight etc etc but goal is to run well into the 9's and get some seat time before going bigger

Your goals should be more then possible.
I was looking at teh mid plate setups while I have mine apart, and I'm leaning towards doing what John from TSP did, just cut the tunnet and buils the plate into the tunnel, and when I do it inparge the area aabove the tranny a little bit. This way I can put studs in the back of the block, an slide the tranny onto the studs while the motor is in the car making removing the tranny a piece of cake and the motor won't move a bit that way as well.
Mount a moroso tranny cooler right on the back of the pan (the one they sell that's a big finned alum one that has a filter in it) and the tranny won'te ven have a cooler line that has to be unhooked for removal. Quick, and easy

I'm jealous of all these guys with parachutes..........I may just put one on my street car now and tell people I'm getting ready for the "future builds."
BTW you have a sweet ride and 9's shouldnt be far away.

Heres a couple shots of the hood corners. They were done by Rhode's, theyre aluminum with a 90º bend along the fender edge and were bolted through the fender, the only way they go on or come off you have to remove the entire fender.
Also, he used some really nice new dzus clips to hold everything down, theyre small and adjustible I like it much better than the normal ol huge fasteners. And the chute release was mount into the factory parking brake location.
Forgot to mention, the car will have a full interior with 2 kirkey's and the factory back seat.

I wish you had a picture how those are attached, as I'm building a file of pictures how I want to do stuff for the chassis guy
Those look perfect, and the fastners they used are very nice as well. I am not sure how they are attached to the hood, and if they provide the same level of support, but they sure look nice that's for sure.

Great work

Yup, Im doing the same thing. I saw it was robbie style corners, very nice. And the midplate, with studs would be great. And run the passanger side front brake line along the firewall, not along the Kmember. Out of the way to drop the Kmember and work on the car.

Have to be careful with the brake line, there's rules about putting them above stuff that can blow up and take them out, like tranny's and whatnot.
But, in the same thought process, I ran mine along the bottom of the radiator support, instead of the k member
when the car is apart, I am going to have to redo that stuff, probably have to get inventive with all the cutting the nose is getting, but I'll find a way to do just what you said.
