10 Second Club - Is my trap enough to join the club?

So I went to the drag strip Saturday to try and get a new PB because it was about 30 degrees cooler than when I ran my current best. A few months ago I managed a 11.30 at 119.5mph on a 1.56 60'.

This time out I found out that my 10 bolt has just had enough and my posi was completly shot. The best pass I could muster was an 11.59 at 121.1mph on a terrible 1.85 60' but I did pick up some good mph and I was curious as to wether or not you guys though I would have been able to hit 10s? The car is done for the year and I will be saving for a 9" with some 3.73s (currently has a bone stock 10 bolt with 3.23) and that should for sure get me there but I was curious as to what I may have been able to run if I could cut my usual 1.5 60's.

I doubt it would have been enough to be honest. My first 10 was a 10.98 @ 124.30 with a 1.57 60'

Yeah I guess the full weight pigs have to go a little faster on the big end, I plan on some 1.4 60s next year so I know it will be there with some steeper gears.

I would say it would take a solid 123mph trap to get a high 10sec. pass......

The 3.73's should add a 1 mph or so. It will be close. Try dropping some weight if your haven't already.

on a normal car I'd say you need 124-125.. (hooking, not a 122 car that you flash on the boards a 123.9 one time spinning lots of wheel speed with a 1.7 11.5 pass) You need to be setup great getting mid 1.4s I'd say, I see cars doint it 124.

thanks for the replys, it looks like the mph just isn't there at the moment but I could always put a FAST intake on the car as well as an UDP if the gears aren't enough.

Jeff, I agree with bottlefed. You need some mid 125's to make it.

Sebastian is talking about an early no ET in Nov. Can you get her up and running by then?

I still wanna race you. Put down the babies bubba and I'll let my son video tape. J/K

If the car works, you can get it down with 121 mph, There is a n/a car down this way that goes 10.9s at 121 - 122, on stock rims and junkyard stock size tires. 60 foots in the 1.5 range.

Unfortunatly Dennis my posi is completly blown and the car won't be back out until I can afford a 9" :( I do still wanna run you but I don't think I'll be spraying the car for a while because the $ I was gonna spend on my kit is going towards the rear this winter. If you go to NO ET let me know, I am gonna try and ride out with Seb.

From my understanding a perfect run at 120mph is a 11.00... so maybe if you get a perfect run you can pull a 10.9:angel: but I would say youu should just try and do some little stuff and that will get you there..

You also have to factor in the fact that you were spinning, which in turn creates a higher MPH, less ET. ***normally***

Just my .02....

But good luck when you get the 9" and a slightly steeper gear!

I understand I was spinning a little guys but I literally had to get completly off the throttle and back on for the car to even hook, does that not negate the spinnin some? This is how it launched and then right after it would spin one tire and that resulted in the bad 60' times.

I ran it with TCS on and still trapped 121mph its not like it was a fluke 1 pass thing I trapped higher than my PB all day. Either way I know I have work to do just wondering if I was close or not, I am confident it will cut 1.4 60s next year with a steeper gear and anti roll bar. My best 60' this year was 1.53 and the car trapped 119.5mph on an 80 degree day so I didn't take the extra mph as spinning as much as I attributed it to the weather conditions.
