Default Got the engine bay back from paint today!

The last few weeks I've been getting the engine bay prepped for paint. Sanding, masking, filling holes, etc... Well the car finally went off to the painter and I got it back this afternoon and started getting stuff thrown back in. I took a few minutes to snap some pictures let me know what you guys think!

Thanks!

Finished prep last week:

Today:

Welded the holes shut for the Wiring Harness. I'll be doing the !Wire Mod...

Yeah, it was quite a bit of work but it's worth it. The color is actually MMM (Monterrey Maroon Metallic) It's a pretty rare color choice on these cars and a lot of people confuse it with SOM (Sunset Orange Metallic). I think it's actually the rarest color on these cars with the exception of the Blue/White police option... Anyways, I had him paint some other things too but the total ended up being something like $1100 for everything... but that included spraying a spoiler, spraying my Sunoco hood, color matching the fenders and front bumper cover and spraying the engine bay. I didn't want to take any chances and had him color match the front fenders and bumper cover just to be sure it was dead nuts on.

Pictures really don't do it justice. I walked out in the garage a minute ago and it really pops in person.... Not so much in the pictures... lol

Looks amazing! Was MRM an available colour in 2002? I thought it was 1997-1998.

Also, why didn't you drill the hole for the wire mod before paint? I hope you don't scratch anything!

That may be it now that I think of it. They had like the same freaking color a few years in a row and ran through a few different names for it. I remember Monterrey Maroon Metallic, Medium Red Metallic, Cayenne Red Metallic and I think there was another one as well. Although, I think that Cayenne Red was a little different shade.

Anyways, I do know that the painter had a hell of a time matching the paint. He said that with the metallic flake and that shade of red it is a pain in the ***** to match, but he got it eventually. Spot on match.

Nah, I'll be drilling from the underside of the fenderwell so I shouldn't scratch anything. Then I've got rubber grommets that I'll be using for the holes. I'm more worried about dropping the motor back in once it's finished. I'll probably be using some carpet remnants to protect everything when I go back together with it.

What? There's no such thing as Medium Red Metallic for 4th gen Camaros.

There was Medium Patriot Red for '93-'95, Cayenne Red for '96-'98 (which is what this car looks similar to), and Monterey Maroon for '99-'02. Those were the only reds other than Bright Rally Red.

Car looks great. I really wonder what color that is... The only way it would have an Medium Red Metallic is if it was...

1) A B4C ordered in a custom color as part of a fleet, so there'd be at least 10 others in the same color
2) The Garnet Red or Candy Apple Red 2002 ZL1 Camaro
3) It was repainted

Take a picture of your RPO code sticker on your driver's side door and I'll tell you the official original color.

That color i Monterey Maroon Metallic which (IIRC) is the same paint code as "Medium Red Metallic" on the Firebirds. I had that color on my old '00 Z28.

That engine bay looks fantastic! The whole car is coming along quite nicely.

Lol, guess I got the color wrong guys...

Here's the RPO sticker for those of you interested enough to find out what the correct name is from the factory.
