LQ9 ported heads 2.02, 2.055, 2.08 which intake valves?
I was looking at Patriot's LQ9 heads and they have 3 different intake valve sizes listed how do you decide which ones to get? All have 1.57 exhaust valves but different size intakes.

What are the throat size(s) for the 3 different valve diameters? Do they tell you that in their literature? Please inquire and let us all know. That should enter into your decision as to what heads to use on your specific engine.
I'm betting a 6-pack of Stella Artois I know what they will say.

Since you have a stock 3.9" bore stick with the 2.02" valve.
After about .505" lift on that 2.02" valve the size of the valve no longer matters. Once the valve head is out of the way the throat diameter will dictate how well the port flows.
I'd be willing to bet that the throat diameter is the same for all three valve options.
A top quality valve job on a 2.02" valve with the correct throat will probably do you a lot more good than a larger valve.

2 or 3 posts do not a tech forum make.,..but it's a start.
Does anyone know (or care) why throat size is important? If I weren't such a nice guy, I'd suggest that the folks who build/sell the heads probably don't know...but that would not be kind, so don't read this.

Glad I still have a small bit of undersatnding about some of the science and physics of an engine.
If I had a formal internal combustion education instead of self-taught I would be dangerous.
