Default Can't Remove C-Clips

2004 Suburban 10 bolt. I decided to replace the rusted out backing plates while I'm doing the rear brakes. I removed the axle retaining pin but the axles won't slide in quite far enough to remove the c-clips. It's close, but not enough. I've read here and elsewhere that on traction control equipped vehicles, which this is, the TCS sensor should be removed to allow the axle to slide in a little further. I'll try that tonight.

My question is, why would the sensor inhibit the axle from sliding in further?

Thanks.

Default

The pick up on the sensor sticks out to far and hits the exciter ring. It should be a 10 MM bolt that holds it in. Pull off the sensor and you will be able to get the axle in far enough.
