Default Can a PT4000 hold a WOT lockup?

Just like the title says. I just put a new set of 275/50 Hoosiers on the car and now I'm realizing that I maybe should have went with 275/60s, which I thought would be overkill for my car at this point. With the converter slip in 3rd I'm calculating that I'm only going to be able to get to 117 or so MPH before fuel cutoff at 6300 RPM. I have 3.73 gears and a stock internal motor. So I'm wondering if it would be beneficial to lock the converter just before it smacks the rev limiter. Is the PT4000 stout enough to do this? What would you guys do if you were in my position?

I'm pretty sure that they will tell you not to do it. I have had this conversation with Dave a few times and he has never said it was OK. What we suggest and what you guys do....... Vince Bielanski

I think you should try to not do that, it very seldom helps and
is never good for the clutch (just sometimes not fatal). Go up
in RPM preferably.

That's what keeps you sponsors in business.

OP - Locking up a converter at WOT in 3rd will usually get you a couple mph, but no ET reduction. It usually just shortens the converter life. Circle D makes a multi disk converter specifically for that if you're that inclined.

I think some of you guys misread my post. I'm not looking to pick up anything ET or MPH wise, I'm just looking for a way to not smack the rev limiter before going through the traps without going to a bigger tire. Thanks for the replies.

Just let it go into OD or install some valve springs so it can easilly rev higher.
