Military Hotrod Club - Seymour Johnson AFB & Barksdale AFB?????

Any info on the area's of these 2? Nice area? car seine? Housing?.......... This is whats available for me and my wife. She is i South korea now and we be back april 1s. Any info will help thanx :)

I drive through Seymour all the time. Its in goldsboro NC, which looks like a pretty small town. Raliegh is only about 60 miles away. It's a fun city with lots to do.

I couldn't tell you about the car scene, but jacksonville nc has a good 1/4 mile track.

the car scene has went down hill over the past five years but there are a bunch of nice cars on base.

I'll be at Seymour Johnson come Aug of next year, gotta finish up with Osan AB first. Most people I talk to about have mixed fillings about it. If your O.K. with a smaller town then most seem to love it. If you love the big city better most seem to hate it. Just did 5 years in San Antonio, I'm ready for the smaller city life for a bit. Everyone says it's close enough to anything you can want, and racing will be better then LA. because of weather reasons.

If the military gave me Hazard Duty pay and Tax Free I still wouldn't go to that shithole known as Barksdale. I've known faaaar too many friends who've had their cars stolen (espcially Fbodies) or just been shot at. Plus its humid as hell down there and I'd prefer to not be on a nuke base.

If the military gave me Hazard Duty pay and Tax Free I still wouldn't go to that shithole known as Barksdale. I've known faaaar too many friends who've had their cars stolen (espcially Fbodies) or just been shot at. Plus its humid as hell down there and I'd prefer to not be on a nuke base.

There are parts of shreveport that i would stay away from but not close to Barksdale. I grew up in Haughton which is not far from Barksdale. Nice area plenty to do. Red River Raceway or thats what it used to be called is about 30 or 40 minutes away. Not sure the name of it now since it was sold to someone else.

Yup went to kansas city area after hawaii and my wife went to korea a year so im living home in pensacola while she is gone and were going here in April

Let me assure you guys of this......YOU DON'T WANT TO COME BACK TO KEESLER!!! My wife has been stationed here for 9 years of her career and it's like a sink hole you can't get away from. Since Katrina things have just gone to shit. There's hardly anything to do if you have a family. There are a few shopping places coming back, restaurants, and movie theaters but nothing like it was before.

As for the car scene.......Limp dick at best. Yes there is still Cruisin the Coast in October but that is only 8 days out of the year.

hope you are liking things. I am sure the car scene is decent there. I would make trips to the coast/FL often. and enjoy some crawfish before the season is over!

our home town is Pensacola fl so we will gone down a few times year. I like the area here so far

It's not too bad here. I mean, I definitely don't like it, but I don't hate it either if that makes sense lol. As far as the car scene goes, its alright. I used to live 45 minutes to an hour away from Atlanta so I'm used to being a part of the huge Georgia scene. There's lots of LSX guys down here though.
