heads are ok but 1 7/8" are a must tsp has some real cheap and the 1000+ you would spend on a fast 92/92 will be worth the 20-30 rwhp and a elec cutout at the Y will help a good amount as well

my 42# injectors are pulling 85% duty cycle so i have to buy bigger ones on my 402, i also recommend 1 7/8 neaders too,i ran 1 3/4 for three years on my 402 then switched to 1 7/8 there and there was difference in power with no noticable loss of bottom end grunt.

I agree with GTSLO88-430-440hp. Your cam choice is a wimp. A bigger motor will take more cam and idle/drive smoother then a smaller ci motor. The 402ci will give you plenty of low tq by the ci's. Headers should be 1 7/8 Look what allignc5 gained going from a 1 3/4 vs 1 7/8 on a 402ci. you will need a 155 fuel pump to be safe. If you must save money then start with the fuel system and add the headers,Intake, ect later to get what you need. By the way, nothing wrong with the bottle. I have sprayed 250hp with no issues many, many times. The problem i'm sure was YOUR FUEL SYSTEM. Goodluck to ya.

i was looking for a daily driver that had good maners but sounded like it has a cam and bottom end torque, the wife and kids like to go for drives on weekend (me driving) but hates when it sthalls. i know its all about the tune but i only had a crane cam tuner. how will this idle compared to my old ls1 stock with cam 224 duration .585 lift. i know bigger cam but bigger cid

You can run a bigger cam and still have great drivability. Alot of it is in the tune man.

will it sound less or more than my ls1

you are really choking this motor. when youre going to big cubes, everything has to go bigger. you arent going to take advantage of those new found cubes with ls6 heads, manifold, small primary headers, and a small cam. far from optimum. you can go well into the 24x/24x range with a fast some good heads (AFR/TFS/PRC) and some 1 7/8 headers and itll drive fine. its all in the combo. im gonna say mot much more than 450-460 out of this one.

You sir have WAY to big of a cam!!! :engarde:

To the OP, like everyone is saying, you are considering a very very small setup and gonna end up selling yourself very short on potential. Not saying go for the max but you could definately get a dramatic increase over the current and suffer NO driveability issues. At least consider a high 230s to mid 240s Intake and exhaust durations, with at least a .600 lift, and you could go for a 113-114 LSA. Should be fairly easy to tune and very street friendly, with a considerable amount more power.

talked to my engine builder about cam and he sugested 236-242 112 596-612 lift if i wanted to release some power and keep drivability good. i have to make desicion by towmorrow, and once i put my 1.8 rockers= like 648 lift. all i want is for it to sound good and good street maners, for power i have enough,425 or 450 or 475 is good for me, later i will upgrade intake system. any one have experienced 402 with this cam.

i have a 402ci, 238/244 .605/.610 on a 110lsa, shaft mount 1.7 rockers, stock ported heads, stock intake/tb(for now), 42 lbs injectors made 456hp and 465 tq in over 90 degree heat. Very happy with this set up lots of room to grow, the drivability wasn't that bad and once i got it tuned its so much better. Some surging below 1500rpms but not bad. I have been driving it daily. Has the nice sound at idle. in a year or 2 ill probably upgrade fror some good aftermarket heads and up the cam into something like the 250-260 range

apollo0256. nice numbers, what i was looking for, did you have to up-grade you fuel pump . rpmauto i'm assuming you have a larger pump, thanks for the replies, just wanted to know what to expect because will be putting motor in and storing car for winter, not going to have a chance to drive until spring, yesterday had 4" of snow, going to melt but....:gruffy:

yes i have the racetronix 255l intank pump. I put it in when i was stock motor and n20. Now i have to either put twins in tank, or standalone fuel system for the n20 if i want to spray more than 100 shot. You will need the pump dont take a chance on a $150 part.

Yes, i went with the racetronics ith their hot wire kit. So easy to put it the follow the instructions on it literaly plug and play, jsut need to either drop the take or cut the hold above it, i just cut the hole
