Budget 6.0l swap in a 92 S-10
Guys I am looking into doing a budget 6.0 swap in my s-10. I called Jegs and priced a kit part #55850 and they quoted me $1019 which includes headers and mounts. The 6.0 will be carbed unless I find a good deal on a 6.0 with harness. Is there a cheaper kit? I can afford this kit but would like to save as much money as possible for some other upgrades

well adapter plates for motor mounts are 30 bucks on ebay,, so sounds like u are spending 900 bucks on headers.. i personally dont like doing "kits",, i like to peaice them as i go along, save money,, . get the ebay plates 30 bucks, then look for a set of headers, they are way pricey.. me personally would would buy some flanges, and some used s10 conversion headers for a bbc, cut them up and make them work for ur truck, its deff more work ,but saves money.. but ive never done a s-10 truck,, maybe some ne else will chime in..

Awesome guys thanks you guys just saved me around $300. All money I can save on each item is going towards a paint job. Could I use stock truck manifolds?????? I will be adding a turbo next year.

The only factory manifolds you can use are ones from a 98-99 f-body. Those are steel while the newer f-bodys are cast. You will have to cut off the collector add I think 6 or more inches of pipe and weld it back together. These are the only manifold people have been able to get to work since clearance is tight around steering shaft and firewall. Check out my local hangout at s10forum.com the lsx section there is second to none and will get all your questions answered.

do u HAVE to run the 6.0 ?
for the money on a 6.0 long block u can probably get a complete pull out 5.3 with harness + tranny
and it sounds like u never read anything on this forum either

What the hell do you mean by "and it sounds like u never read anything on this forum either"?
I didn't have any intentions of doing any kind swap in any car until this previous weekend.

^ exactly. I'm over there also. Way more help than you'll get in this thread.
I love LS1tech for showing off, and LS1 related stuff, but for your swap, you'll get EVERYTHING you need and more over there!

I have to agree with you. I've been there for a couple years. And have had almost no help with wiring issues. I got more from TurboBandit here that I've gotten there. Thanks BTW TurboBandit.
