Default LS1 and LS6

How can you tell the different between the 2 by looking at it ?

Look at the casting numbers on the back of the block.

Heads (243s) will be the only visible (external) difference if the engine is still stock. The later LS1 used the LS6 blocks and intakes; block casting numbers won't help in those cases.

2001 & up LS1's used the LS6 intakes. The casting number 243, on the front top corners of heads, will indicate an LS6 engine, if original. Casting number 241 indicates an LS1.

LS1 has EGR, LS6 doesn't. Check part #'s..some og the Vette LS1's didn't have EGR and people try to pawn them off as LS6's.

The LS6 has the flat bottom like the pic on the left, the pic on the right is the 'humped up' bottom of an LS1 intake.
