I know it is a ways off, but who is in? After reading the Gear Head to do list in HR a few months back, I decided to start checking some more things off. The route is "official", some venues are still to be announced. I have the rooms booked, I'm in for the long haul. I know the mod is in, who else is out there?

LS1nova; 15 years, Wow!
97ram;
I booked the rooms but did not pay the registration fees because of what I read on the HR forums. The advice was to book the rooms early before they are gone, but wait on registration because it was non-refundable. The link is on the HR site for registration, and I believe Jerry stated that it was open during the press conference on Monday.
It is great to see the list growing.

Usually the cost covers 2 participants passes and 1 vehicle entry, I think this years cost $65.00 or something close to that. Either way, it's not much!

I have been long hauling since 99, had to miss the last two due to military deployments. The 09 year was my absolute final deployment. Have been lucky to get my cars in a few magazine pics too or at least mention my name once or twice while on the road the last few I managed to do and always have a great time. So will be glad to finally hit the road again without worrying about being out of country again.

I am planning to do the Long Haul this year. This will be my first HRPT and I look forward to seeing a ton of awesome cars. I'll most likely bring my son, depends on how he does in school (high school sophmore), he knows the rules and he is into American muscle *almost* as much as I am. If this one goes well, I plan on doing the tour every year, it's just a nice break from work that involves something that I really love. :smokin:

Newbie to this site, but not to PT. This will be our 4th, 2nd LH in our 70 Camaro. Can't wait til June. Leaving out of Tulsa OK Fri, June 4th, early morning if anyone wants to jump in the caravan with us!
Reason I joined this site, is we have been looking at and hoping to find a low mileage, 2000-2002 Camaro SS, auto, NO mods, hard top if possible, but won't turn down T-tops if its the "right" one :)

blklime02, the entire reg. is $70 goes up to $80 after May 26th. Its $25 to register per city/venue, so if u did 3 cities = $75, but if register before 5-26, u can pay $70 plus get the long hauler goodie bag even tho u are not long hauling.

Attnention all Camaros! There will be an all-generation Camaro photoshoot on HRPT. Right now the plan is to do it at the Newton speedway, but that's not definite yet. We just want a place big enough to park as many Camaros as possible for a huge photo of all generations!
This is not an "official" event. Something we, the participants, came up with. For more info, see the thread called: "Camaros, Let's Roll!" on the www.hotrod.com Power Tour forum site. Im sure as time gets nearer, we will announce where and when the photoshoot will take place.

you will be fine.. I've long hauled a couple years rollin' with my friends 93 lightning. its got 700+ HP to the wheels and only lasts 100 miles before it has to fill up with gas and/or overheats and/or something breaks. He keeps a jack, full tools, fluids, and some parts in the bed of the truck... lol! People do stop to check and see if there is a problem and you need help. My car also has 108K on it and am not worried about it if the worst does happen there will be people there to help. If not stand on the side of the road and wave your hands other people on the tour will stop to help for sure!

Finally made it to Altoona, IA just after midnight. Swapped my rear springs in Missouri, then drove through a few tornadoes and hail to get here.
You swapped out your rear springs on the road going to HRPT? :hail:

Where were the tornados and hail? We BARELY made it past a storm in Cameron Missouri. Got a few small hail strikes but nothing that did damage. We went through as it was building thankfully!
We went thru that same storm, hid out under an overpass for a few minutes. Some crazy rain.

It was not fun since my suspension mods barely allow the spring swap without unbolting the torque arm.
Other than the mud from the registration area, pretty good first day here. Saw several other 4th gens even though there are still none at my hotel.

Yea that kinda sucked, but so far so good. I saw your car, but didn't see anyone around it. Was cool making laps around the track also.

Well this is shaping up to be my wildest Power Tour yet. I decided to drive ahead tonight and ended up driving straight into a tornado near Peoria Illinois. While driving down 74 hwy the sky started to get dark, then people were pulling off the road for what seemed like no reason at all because it wasn't raining very hard. Then it got very dark and I could see rotation and a good size tornado touch the ground just to the west of the hiway. So I just drove trying to get out of it's path. Now I'm sitting in a hotel watching the news, and the whole Peoria area is under a tornado warning.

My car doesn't ignite a lot of conversation unless people hear it running, so my wife and I walked around and looked at the rest of the rides.
I'm planning on waking up for the driver's meeting tomorrow since they recommend it for long haulers. It's going to suck waking up that early.
I planned on just following the crowd tomorrow but I'm down for rolling together. I haven't uploaded the route or read it, so I'm just winging it. My number is 2147017125 if anyone wants to let me follow.

My wife probably won't get out of bed early enough, so I'm not too sure we are going to make it to the meeting tomorrow morning. I have set the alarm to have us intercepting the group as they get on I80 around 8:30.
I just wanted to attend since they said long haulers should, but the more I read about the meetings the more optional they look. Plus all the updates are texted to us if you have signed up for that.

I don't know how his vette got around the parking lot yesterday. Frigging parking lot had huge speed bumps around it. I've never drug my exhaust as much as I did around Chattanooga.

It took careful planning to get both cars through that parking lot with those speed bumps. At least they were wide!
That "PLUMBAD" Challenger was awesome. Probably the first one I've seen that I really liked! I wanted to get a chance to "stretch the legs" on open highway but we had to hit an exit to "rest and refresh."
See you guys in Mobile if you make it down there!

I am there sans either of my cars. If you see a black with silver stripes 07' GT500, a Competition Orange 08' GT500, a red 95' GT, and a Marina Blue 66' SS 396 Chevelle... that's the group I am with.
I saw a silver T/A with a tag that reads "on gas" today a row over from us.
Today was retardedly hot, and I am super duper burnt.

That was twotonefreak in the silver TA. We made it there early today, parked the car, then sat at the entrance for a couple hours. Planning on doing something similar in Mobile.
People apparently only know me when they hear my car running since it looks stock.

Cool, my buddy with the black GT500 was like, "got cam?" My name is Brian... I'll be in cammo shorts and a Magnaflow shirt today. Hopefully I'll find a few others by their cars today. I know one thing, once I stamp my credentials and get my magnet... I am grabbing a chair and looking for some shade. I still have a horrible headache this morning.

We came by the booth, but the vette and camaro weren't there yet. We are getting something to eat, then who knows. Our hotel looks pretty slim for hot rods, so probably not the best hotel parking lot for hanging out.

What a cluster to park today. We got here a little after two. Luckily we are staying at the Holiday Inn, and are VERY close by. Wonder how long the awards ceremony will drag out tomorrow? I have heard they want us to start heading over at 8am... not sure if we'll be up that early.

The group I am with have been long haulers in 2005, 2006, 2007, 2009, and now this year. They have all said that it drags on for hours and we will be lucky to leave by noon. 10:30am sounds great as I have a 10-11 hour drive home. Let's hope my friends are exaggerating. They told me the year it ended in NJ, the crowd was yelling "HURRY UP!", for over an hour because of how long it was taking and the heat was brutal. I am going to think positive and plan to be heading out around 10:30 - give or take 5-10 minutes.

I was probably 7 miles behind you at that point... we drove to Champaign Urbana that night, and my friends police scanner was going off about the tornado touching down in downtown Peoria off of I74 and route 20. We ended up taking 474 around Peoria and to avoid hitting any major damage or storms.
Got to Champaign Urbana w/ no issues.
