Default Cam for daily driver auto. GTO??

I'm kind of confused about which cam has shown good results for an automatic car as far as vacuum, driveability, and power but nothing crazy. I don't want to run a stall but I know that's going to have to happen and i love my brakes and A/C so idk how to go about the vacuum issue. I love the MS3, MS4, and Megadeath cam but I actually like the LS1 hot cam. I know it's nothing much but it sounds decent and is reasonably priced. How long will the LS6 springs get me since it's driven daily if I get the hot cam kit???

Don't go any bigger than a TR224 with the stock stall, I hate how mine acts right now. The idle is so low that it feels like a 234 cam plus it stalls if you let off the gas right on the 1-2 shift or if I don't wait after starting to put it in first but it does sound good. When the idle was regular I had an automatic cruise control at anything up to 65mph.

well you said you dont want to run a stall, my advise would be to consider running a really small one...most everyone who has a stall doesnt regret it, the only thing they might regret is that its too small and in rare cases that its too big....it will wake the car up a lot and if your running a really small one it wont really effect much on the drivability.

Ok cool. The stall doesnt bother me I had just caalled Texas Speed and they said I'd need a 4k stall for the Magic Stick 3? Size doesnt bother me on the cam the cars not paid off I just want a cool driver. I have a 95 speed Z28 convertible and a 67 Camaro which is either destined to a LSX454 crate, or a aluminum headed BBC. I'm actually a diesel tech. for Chrysler so tools and a shop isn't a issue and the cam install looks like gravy on the Goat anyway. I'd really just like a cam only car w/ stall and nitrous which if i go that way i need a nitrous conv. so ti doesnt fly the hell apart.

for the cams that you mentioned, you definitely are gonna need a very big stall.

I had a Yank SS3600 stall with a B&M trans cooler (You'll need a cooler with a stall) and i loved it!!! But that was in my old, '00 uncammed T/A. It was a lock-up converter so it still got desent gas mileage. My buddy runs the MS3 cam and he's actually wanting to go bigger. I have the MS4 that's about to go into my daily driver, it just depends on how aggressive of a cam you want. If you go with a bigger than stock cam, i'd get some stronger springs to go with it. The Patriot Golds would work ok with the MS3, but the MS4 needs the PRC Gold Double valve springs due to the high 643 lift.

Sorry WS I'm just fiending for a damn cammed car man. Every idea is smacking me at once. Constructive criticism is welcome though.

For a potent/fun/reliable street combo, dont count out the smaller cams. Properly matched with a stall they are fun as **** to drive everyday. I ran a tr-224 and a 3200 and it was a great combo. Pulled everywhere with torque out the ***. I personally thought it needed a 3600 to optimize the combo. For you I would say a tr224/224R or tr228/228r with a 3600-4000 stall.

hmm, seems like they are describing my sig..haha

After I put the stall in though, I'm afrade I'll want a bigger cam. If no stall get under TR224 but if you're getting a 3000 or up stall definately get a tr224 or bigger.

Ok lets put it this way.... Which cam will work with NO stall? And which will work with 3000 and under without driving like ***? I drive 25 miles to work and 25 home, and do a lot of town driving in the weekend.

My advice, do not cam (at least yet). Build on your bolt ons and get a 3000 stall. That alone might make the difference you seek in performance. That includes a tune of course.

I was waiting on that from someone lol. Thanks though your right, I'm just getting too anxious man. The damn shootout has me going nutts for a street car. My GTO is my first LS1 and damn are bolt on's high! Any advice on some LT's that arent the typical $1200?? I'll probably keep the exhaust as it is (muffler delete, stock resonators and cats.) for now. I'd like to get away with heads, cam, headers, CAI, stall, and a tune. How efficient is the stock intake manifold on a 04 GTO?? Or should i junk it and go from there?
