Default tr230/224 111lsa cam questions

hey, i found a good deal on a thunder racing tr230/224 111 lsa "reverse split" cam. how is the drivability with this cam? how is the idle sound? i want to get around 400 whp cam only and still be able to daily drive it.
thanks

I'm no expert by any means but I would say depending on the lift of the cam which I don't know but on a 111 LSA it should hit a good lick. But TSP has some good stuff and I would think it's driveable but I would say it's all in the tune. Just depends. You may can youtube the cam and see if you can find it. While your there you could see if you can find an UD pulley get that thing to rev faster.

it has a nice lope to it, my copy idles as low as stock and is perfectly driveable but if you have an auto you will need a stall or it will push through the brakes and cause those kinda of issues

theres a thread in the dyno results section with this cam, its on a red 00 TA, he hit 416/411. lift on that cam is .575/.563. iirc he was bolt on, stock heads.

its 150 bucks off the cam, not to mention the stuff you need to buy to go with the cam, matching springs and pushrods are a must.

i think itd be a good cam for the street and it makes good power.

From what I have gathered it is a bit harder than just "tossing in" a reverse split as a traditional everything doesn't have you be as exact for all the parts.

I do know for sure you have to have a VERY free flowing exhaust for a reverse split to shine. And if I am not incorrect, they are not known for their power.. They are known for their TQ, where and how much they make is insane.

Also IIRC they are better suited with stock intake/head setups than aftermarket.. I believe that is where traditional splits take over.

Correct me if I am wrong, have only done a little bit of research on them.

thats the thing man, alot of people on here are quick to diss reverse split cams. alot of people doubt these cams once you add heads and a fast intake, but there are people that still make power and not lose power which is what i would think. look at the latest guy with a TR230/224. he made 41x hp/ 41x torque.. stock heads i believe. i dont think i have ever seen a traditional split with the same size make close to the same amount of torque. heck, even predator Z el torro cam made crazy torque.

i posted a link for an old reverse split cam from MTI 230/227. it was maybe 6 years old.they put it in a 422ci motor.. it made 48x/ 508 torque..thats with LS6 heads and LS6 intake.. i could only imagine the power it would make with some AFR/TFS heads and a fast intake. that is pretty damn impressive for such a small cam that people think dont work..

Got ya! I wasn't dissing it by any means.. They interest me greatly and I'm thinking of one for the GFs car when its time to cam hers as she will stick with ls6 intake and stock heads.. Just from what I have gathered (even from Pred Z) is that they arent as easy as just "tossing" one in.. If that makes sense. All the small things make a greater impact on the reverse splits than they do on traditional.. Biggest thing being the exhaust restrictions.

Not to hi-jack this thread but how does this cam compare in terms of perfomance on stock heads, LS6 intake to a TSP228R?
