so i removed the front sway from my 97 lt1 for weight and drag racing purposes and i was thinkin about just removing my rear swaybar also. whats the pros an cons to doing this guys/girls?? will it make the car run better or worse at the drag strip?

It will run worse and wont hook up as well...dont do it.

Another suggestion if you don't run a rear sway bar and are running bigger tires you might have clearance issue with the tires and fender. What are you going to do with the vehicle? Leave me know and I will be more than glad to help.

well this is basically a street/stip car that is driven on the street more. see i just put a QP ford 9" in the car and is has 3" axle tubes and my stock sway wont bolt to it cause of the bigger axle tubes. anyone know how i can fix this so i could put the rear sway back on?

dont do it!
i ran around for quite a while with the rear sway bar off, and the only good that come from it, was endless burnouts, and horrible handling.
either buy the umi kit. or buy some 3" u-bolt exhaust clamps, and slot the holes in your swaybar mount (the omega-shaped thing) and it'll work out.
mock it up, and weld a couple 3/8" washers at the ends if you feel that you need to.

well guys i havnt put it back on yet because of money issues but i did take it out to the track and ran it with the front an rear sway bars removed an was able to pull a 1.76 60ft! didnt think that would happen after you everyone saying it would just burn the tires over...

Leave it on, essentially for real racing a solid, thicker, bar is needed. I put on a UMI, its is def stiff, there is some oversteer, do not expect to be hitting banking corners at 100 mph.

Don't remove the rear bar. It will hook worse without the bar on. We have the axle brackets to attach you factory or aftermarket swaybar to your 9" housing.
