Default Any ideas what internal engine knock could be ?

Heard it run before buying it.
No prior history other then it was a repo.
110,000 miles
1998 Corvette M6.
Oil pressure is fine.
Pulled off valve covers and intake.
Rockers, springs and push rods look fine.
Gets louder as rpms climb.
Cracked flywheel ? i realize not internal.
Could it be a bad lifter ?
Or could it be spun bearing ?
Piston to valve knock ?
Any ides before taking heads off ?

Thanks.

if its a knock? which im guessing it is since you said that. it would more than likely be a rod or main. that will get louder as rpm's climb. but....if its cold sometimes with the 98 model year the pistons make a knocking sound when its cold because of the coating of some sort. but with out hearing it my guess is rod or main. just my opinion but a repo and 110k miles my guess is they didnt care about up keep much.

This is a loud knock.
I know it is not the piston rattle like some of the LS and 6liters have cold.

my almost positive guess would be a rod or main then. ive heard an engine knock and thats a very distinct sound. if its loud like you say it would have to be one of the two. id start tearing it down and see what your going to have to replace with go fast parts
