Default Looking for a babby cam in a daily drivin stalled 5.3 camaro

This time last year I was gearing up for the project of my life putting a 5.3 in my 99 v6 camaro. Its since been finished and now Im looking to get into the 12's (current times in sig). Has a built trans and a 2200 11in converter. It will have a 3600 stall by the end of november. Aside from that and the ls1 intake(ls6 coming soon!) and a tune, its a bone stock emission-less 5.3 with headers.

Looking for a little more umph, a babby cam maybe? This thing gets driven every day may-nov. Its spends most of its time on the highway, about 40-50 miles a day. I really want to keep the GREAT mileage I get now. Aside from that, its my only requirement.

Car has 3.42's, rest of specs should be in sig.

Thanks!

Check out my thread https://ls1tech.com/forums/dynamomet...tq-411-hp.html

It's a racecar, but plenty people have this in DDs and love it.

I'd say their smallest thumpr cam would work pretty good too.

I think the speed inc cam is a bit big for what im looking to do, thanks though.

Whats up with the old man cam? Howd it earn that name, just being that streetable?

Ive also heard really good results with the tr220, what valve springs would be required for that?

It doesnt have very much lope to it and it stays close to the stock powerband. Since the cam would be going in the 5.3 instead of the 5.7 it might seem a little bit bigger if you compared your motor with it to a ls1 with it.

With the tr220(.551) you could use Z06 springs. TSP220(.581) you would have to use 918

I like the idea of using the yellow ls6 springs, just because there so cheap, what lift are they rated for?

224R. remember, you cant look at all LS1 cams the same since you have the 5.3. a 224 cam is a pretty good jump into a 5.3. the ls6 cam is even a popular cam, gains a good amount with a stock like drive.

I like PAC beehives, sure they aren't as cheap as yellow LS6 springs but you break a valve spring at 6k and kiss your motor goodbye. Don't be cheap when it comes to valve springs.

A 224 on a 114 will pick up about 50hp to the tires every day on a 5.3l in this neck of the woods. Our custom 5.3l cam will get closer to 70whp with the same manners as a 224 on a 114.

My DD 2003 S10 w/ a LM7 5.3l has a TSP 224 on a 114. Drives great and gets great fuel economy at 19city/23hwy.
