Stealth II goes 11.20 and 121.47 MPH...
Well, I finally got some good tires on the car. A new set of ET Streets 26x10.5s replaced my 4 yr old 11.5s. The car hooked PERFECTLY on every single pass today. The worst 60 ft was 1.58 (last time my best was 1.69) and most were 1.55-1.56. This is with 3.23 gears and a 3525 lb raceweight. This SS4000 totally kicks *** for a street/strip converter. This is a 1.4 second converter if I had some better gearing.
The MPH picked up from a 120.2 on the last outing. These smaller tires and MUCH improved launch are the reasons I believe. The DA was -935 which wasn't as good as last time. I didn't weigh it but the only thing that should have changed are the slightly lighter rear tires. Call it a 3520 raceweight.
Here are the two best timeslips...
1.55
7.14
96.07
11.21
121.47
1.56
7.13
96.19
11.209
120.40 (btw, this MPH was the worst out of my 10 or so passes today. All of the others were above 121.)
You folks that don't believe in SS converters, baby cams (this cam is a 224/220), or reverse split cams, stay tuned. 10s NA are coming and it'll be done with 3.23 gears, an almost full weight car, and an idle that is indistinguishable from stock.

What, is that really supposed to be impressive? In the days of many 10 sec H/C cars, an 11.20 is good? Please, give me a break..... My huge cammed, loud ***, 4.56 geared, 3400lb, no A/C, non-daily-driveable H/C car would...well...might...uummm.... Excuse me while I cry myself to sleep. Maybe my "racecar" (2000 Z28) will be able to outrun your.....well, nevermind...
Seriously, awesome times for a "sleeper". I'd love to see the looks on the faces of the open headered, rollcaged, stickered up, slicked RACECAR drivers as they get smoked by a lowly fuel injected stock car, with 25+ mpg, AC, quiet exhaust, etc.
That is the main reason I'll never get rid of my car, the look on their faces is priceless....

Hey, thanks for the congrats everyone.
I seriously couldn't be any happier with this combo. It's exactly what I was shooting for...and more. It has exceeded my expectations in regards to idle stealthyness, MPG, and most importantly, performance. I had originally thought I'd be happy to hit 120 MPH with this combo PLUS some moderate weight reduction, an electric water pump, and an LSX intake manifold but now I'm looking at possibly 123 MPH and some 10s. All the while enjoying a 100% stock interior (plus a fairly cool sound system), better than stock gas mileage, a stock idle, stock muffler, and stock gearing with a converter that's nice enough to drive everyday. What more could I want? Oh yeah, 9s and to still be this drivable. Hmmm....is that a nitrous bottle I hear calling my name?
John N, yes, this was at MMP today. The track was hooking nicely. It seemed like the total opposite of TNT nights...of course the new rubber had something to do with it too.
John D, I got it.

It's nice to see others going for the stealth/sleeper approach. It is a less traveled road but definitely worth it when you see results like this. While my car is no where near as fast; clicking off mid-low 12 sec timeslips with a 02 LS6 cammed car is sweet considering how little I spent on the engine.
Whaty do you think you gained from the just the SS4000?
BTW - Great times.

Larry, I was kinda scared these tires wouldn't hook...especially when I saw them. They are ALOT thinner than the 11.5s. Not one inch but two at the tread. But, they hooked flawlessly. Remember, tread width makes alot less difference that tire height. These tires, while being far narrower, are within .3" of the 11.5s height.
What did I gain by going to the SS4000? That's a very good question and it's one that I'm afraid I can't accurately answer. There were other factors involved. Ok, so a guess? I'd say .06-.07 in the 60ft and possibly 1-1.5 MPH in the 1/4. Just guessing though.
