Default Need Help!

My car is a 02 SS Vert. my mods are in my sig.

First time at the dragway...i'm using Nitto NT-05's 295x18x35's..... i put the psi down to 28.... went around the water box, it was like ice under my wheels..and it got progressivly worse on the next three runs Is it my inexperience or are these (NT-05's) having problems hooking at the track? The car ran great other then my hooking problems. It was pretty embarassing getting beat by EVERYTHING, to embarrassing to tell you the cars that beat me

With the kind of power you are making, you really need some drag radials if you want to hook. Also hurting you is a low profile 18" tire has very little sidewall. You want some sidewall when launching. I would suggest getting some MT ET street radials for the track.

thanks for the advice! I guess i can't have it both ways...looks and performance. Do you like the MT's better then the Nitto's? I was thinking of selling the BBS wheels, as i still have the stock LE 17" wheels ( never been used )and throwing on some DR's?

I run a 275/50/R15 MT ET Street Radial and I dead hook every time at the track. Consistant 1.6x's 60'
From what I have found:
MT DR's: Great for the track but won't last long
BFG DR's: Decent on the track, decent road wear
Nitto 555R: Bad on the track (still better than street tires) but great treadwear

I'm planning on running some Nitto's on the street when I need new tires, but have my MT for the track.
