Default Ls1 Mustang Transmission Crossmember

Alright all you ls1 mustang guys!
What are you guys doing about a trans crossmember? I was thinking about modifing the stock mustang crossmember. Moving the mounting location back and maybe even cutting up the crossmember some.

Just wondering what all of you guys have done. There are PLENTY of ls1 mustangs out there. I know at least a few of you guys have to have some pics of what you've done.

Thanks in advance for the help!

what transmission are you using? I'm using a TH350 with a 9" tailshaft vice a 6". I utilized my factory crossmember that I notched and add a piece of 2x3" box tubing to. You're talking about shifting the crossmember back so I assume you're utilizing a T56. My car is a 94 but it may help otherwise. Pics are on pg 2 of my build thread here.

Fox body? sn95?

Aje offer quite a few different cross members that aren't listed on their site.
I bought theirs for my 2000 gt swap with t400

I'm swaping it into a 92, so yea a fox body.
I'm also using a 4L80E

Nice Idea ryclef. But where my stock crossmember bolts to the car is actually about 6-8" to far toward the front of the car. So It needs to be moved back quite a bit.

Call AJE see if they have anything less then $200 and bolts right in. I've used 2 of there trans x members and am very happy with them.

TH350/TH400 will fit in factory cross member with the right motor mount.

I'm using the aje setup. The 4L80E is just so damn long. Its longer then th350/th400 so that mount won't work.

I have plenty of clearance in tunnel. it was like it was meant to be!

Save yourself alot of trouble and go buy a FRPP adjustable crossmember for like $80 ($20-$30 used) and modify the holes a little.

I've got one lined up. A buddy of mine has one he'll give me for $25.

But I'm still going to have to move the mounting location back. So that means drilling out all those damn spot welds! I think I counted like 7-8 per side.

Just leave the stock ones where they are and burn in some new ones with some plate steel
