Default K&N Intake burning hood liner?

i installed the intake about 1k miles ago and its been working well untill about a week ago when i noticed a small burning smell when i got out of the car. when i opened the hood i noticed a small hole where the rubber lining covering the metal heat separating plate bends and presses harder against the hood liner. i was thinking i could just cut out that part of the rubber but i was wondering if anyone else had this problem

Never heard of that before. Plus, that shield doesn't produce any heat, so how could it be burning the liner? You probably have some other issue, maybe a short.

Could be friction or just something chafing.

I had to super glue ($0.99 mini tube from Checkers) the rubber trim back on the divider thing, in my GXP. It keeps the rubber in place and hasn't failed me yet.

I would also take a multimeter and check for a short, like corny suggested. Although my rubber came loose, I never had any burn marks or burning smells.

I had to super glue mine together also. But the gold bond should work for the chafing
