Default 1-2 shift is weird, 2-3 is fine, 3-4 is weird

I recently had my 4L60E rebuilt. When I got it back it worked great but after a while it started to slip on the highway again. I took it back and they put in a new input shaft. This stopped the slipping but now the 1-2 shift takes a full second (kinda revs freely) and when when 2nd finally does kick in it does it hard enough to hurt your kidneys. It does this no matter what MPH or RPM I shift at. It shifts quickly and with normal firmness from 2nd to 3rd. The the 3-4 shift is just like the 1-2 shift, but since the car is moving faster it doesn't feel quite as hard. What could be going on here?

Being that the band has to be applied in both 2nd and 4th gears, I would suspect that is where your issue is. Has to be something in that circuit. Vince Bielanski
