Default 9 sec 6 speed guys: what clutch???

During the buildup of my juiced 427 ls1, the clutch slipped my mind. What are all the high hp 6 speed guys hear running? I've heard both good and bad things about mcleods, and was wondering if there is any other option out there. It would be great if futural and cammin beast could chime in here...

Thanks a bunch,
Conrad

I run the RAM 910 VDS setup in my car. I have had it in for a year and a half now with no issues. I have been spraying it for the last 10 months still no problems. I have over 60 9 and 10 second passes on this clutch at the track, plenty launches on the street and 12,000 miles of street driving. This clutch grabs hard and I highly recommend it.

Let me know if you have any other questions or give me a call if you like.

Good luck

Right now Im running the McCleod RevLok II. It has stood up to about 30 passes and several street races. Seems like a good clutch.

FWIW, I have a Ram 910 from FMS sitting in my cabinet waiting for the McCleod to fall apart. I have a lil more faith in the Ram setup after seeing what Allan has put it through.

Goodluck man!!!!

Well all that I can say is McLeod has never let me down.

My freind Taner has run multiple hard 9.6x's and 9.7x's with 1.29-1.35 60' with his McLeod street twin in a ~3600 lb car.

Also their customer service is second to none. In my books that means a hell of a lot.

Good luck.

Oh yeah, just wondering what bad things have you heard??

ive heard basically that the mcleods burn up pretty quick. there's been some posts floating around lately as well. my freind's procharged 6 speed car went through 2 twin disk clutches in a matter of one summer...

thanks for all the replys, anyone else run the ram clutch?

I've had nothing but good luck with Mcleod. Now i'm not pushing 9's, but maybe next Year I can change that.

I'd get the revlok mcleod. But the ram is great clutch to.

i too have seen one post where someone was bashing mcleod, but based on the info provided the clowns that put it in screwed it up.

mcleod street twin rocks! 1.27 60' - 1.34 consistent! i went through my first one in 1.5 years, many runs with it. but little things about driving a street twin on the street and racing are what burned up the clutch plates, and warped the pressure plate. i sent it back got it freshened listened to Les @ McLeod and since then i have been rock solid. i even sent it back a week ago for inspection and he said it had seated perfectly and everything looked perfect! so he his sending it back to me, that is after a full year of racing and street driving,

my .02, g'luck on choice

nother vote for the street twin. i think it has to do w/ the setup of the piece, and checking the tolerances when it's installed. this is the first i've heard of problems with the unit, as they're typically rock solid clutches.

It is old. but i like it. what does it take to have a 9 sec 6 speed car? I guess a bunch of money. pretty much my goal in life is to have a 9 sec 6 speed car. By the time i am done with it will be a vintage drag car. But i will get there. haha

another vote here for the twin, and im sure a buddy of mine will chime in and vote for it too, we put his twin in and took it to the local walmart to test it and guess what?? launched it at like 5 in first went to grab 2nd and BOOM!! split the stock aluminum driveshaft right in 2. were both firm believers on the street twin, IIRC his car was puttin down like 650+ on juice and it lasted for 2 years without a hiccup... MCLEODS ALL THE WAY!!!
