springs for ms3 or ms4 ?

Default springs for ms3 or ms4 ?

Do most people use the same springs for either cam and if not what are the two springs recommended?

TSP is the mfg. of those cams, they also have the required valve spring s and info. the PRC line of springs

I see their listings and just would like to know if most people go with the springs good for .660 lift or go for the ones good for .700 lift. My idea of using the .700 lift springs with either ms3 or ms4 would be to possibly get a longer life out of the springs since they wouldnt be at their max rated lift. Does this sound like it could be a good idea or am I thinking too much? I see they only expect 30k miles out of the .660 springs. Also with using the .700 springs you would have better options in cam selection if you ever want to change it up a bit.

I've got the .660 springs on my heads and haven't had a problem


EDIT: should have said my springs are PRC's

I have the .650 springs with the MS4. The stiffer the springs, the harder on your valvetrain. Just get the springs required for each. If you want the MS4, they will sell you the .650 PRC gold double springs, not the .660 PRC platinum doubles.

Texas Speed said that PRC gold springs are the new springs that accompany their MS4 camshaft. They also said that PRC gets these springs from a different manufacturer than before. They said that this new manufacturer has better quality and offers a better spring that should outlast the previous .660 PRC double platinums

That is correct! We do not use the same spring manufacturer as most of the other companies offering a dual valve spring kit. Our standard .660" lift spring is certainly the most popular and works very well. We also offer our PRC EHT .675" dual spring kit that will offer better spring life in conjunction with the slightly higher lift rate. The .700" lift spring kit is not a drop-in valve spring since you have to machine the spring pockets on the heads to get them to fit.

Thats some good info on the springs and I would much rather have a drop in spring unless im doing a all out race setup. I will most likely go with the prc eht .675 spring kit and as far as the push rods I should be good with the stock length or is the ms3 and ms4 ground on a smaller lobe center. I know as long as the heads havent been milled and the cam is on the same as stock lobe center I should be fine with stock length. I will be replacing them as well just want to be sure on the length.

I know the MS4 is on a smaller base circle, when I was cam only with stock heads and gaskets, they rec the 7.425" and those were good. Then I went with new lifters and heads and went back to 7.400"

Like the guy above me said, the MS4 has a bit smaller base circle than the MS3 to get those aggressive ramp rates...with a completely stock long-block, the best guess at length is 7.425".

With that being said then i guess I should wait to get pushrods till i decide on a cam.

Pushrods are always the last thing to order/decide on. We can make our best educated guess at the length you'll need, but there are enough variables there that measuring is the only way to get it right 100% the first time! The first time you charge your buddy pizza and beer to measure their pushrod length correctly, the $20 tool has paid itself off

Ive been thinking and have come to the thought of getting a torquer v.2 would you think
I should go with the .660 springs or would the comp 918 springs be a good choice.
