Default car overheated, weird cooling fan issue

i was driving around today and everything was going as normal, then i noticed when sitting at a gas station the temps started to climb. got up to about 240-245 and as soon as i started moving again the temps dropped right back down to the 200 mark. ok, airflow issue, easy enough

well heres what i cant figure out. for some reason today my fans are not coming on, high or low speed. i have a manual fan switch that i can manually turn the fans on low with no issue, but with the vehicle the fans will not come on. also using hp tuners if i command the fans on nothing happens. thurs i drove around in high heat and in alot of traffic and had no cooling issues, this just started this morning. i swapped the fan1 and fan2 relay with the stater and ignition relays and attempted to turn them on with hp tuners and still nothing. could the fan3 relay be causing this, i dont have one to swap in there to test

thanks

Fans on and off are driven by temperature - might be your wiring to the temp sensor that is defective if manually everything still works.

It's just under the radiator cap as I recall. It can get completely filled with solidified DexCool. Might want to take it apart and clean it and then reconnect.

I think there is a fuse too. My Alky pump blew a fuse causing my fans to quit.

the temp gauge is functioning, the sensor under the cap is coolant level

You mentioned having a manual switch. Is this the SPL setup? I am guessing it could be not allowing the PCM commands get to the relays?

ok i feel really fuggen dumb

went straight to the relays instead of checking the big 40 amp fuse first. it was popped.

dont have time to go get another one, getting ready leave to go to Sema in the next hour or so

if replacing the 40 amp doesnt fix it ill post up

If the fuse popped I"d check the fans to see if one locked up ,make sure they spin .Hope you get it solved.
