View Full Version : 12.4 @ 109, I'm a little worried.

Well, looking for some input. I think something is not running right on my car. I Dyno'd 377 HP / 392 TQ in 2005.
3200 Vigilante Stall / Transgo Shiftkit
Mac Mid's with a cutout
Sub Frame Connectors / LCA's
PP Stage 2 5.3L Heads
225/225 589/589 w/ 112LSA
Mickey Thompson ET Streets w/about 25LBS of pressure
Last nights best timeslip (In every aspect)
1/8th 8.011 @ 88.46MPH
I would think with my mod's, I should be in the high 11's. Hell my friend said that they pulled a 1.8 60' on street tires with a 12.8. They just had intake/Exhaust, no stall on an auto at Thunder Vally by OKC. Hopefully someone can chime in and see if the numbers match up. I'm running in Montgomery Motorsports right at sea level to.

I would say those Mac mids may be hurting you a little and a little bigger stall would help also.I would say you should be running mid to high 11's and you had to much air in those tires.20 psi or a little less would have been better.

I was thinking high 11's. I guess if I get my 60ft down a bit, that would definitly put me closer. I think I need more seat time. I figured 8.0 in the 1/8th was pretty quick. Looks like back to the drawing board. :(
Nice Hockey sticks! First one that I've seen on a 5th Gen!

My old 93 T/A dynoed 375 RWHP, I never ran it after the dyno tune....prior to that I ran 12.4x @ 109 with a 1.7x 60'.....what suspension mods do you have?
11-01-2009, 07:55 PM
I just noticed you said you had 25 PSI in your DRs....try running them at 18-20 PSI, I bet your 60 foot gets better.

My car traps 109 with 296 rwhp, full weight. A 109 trap with 377 rwhp does not sound right at all.

Your way down on trap speed man. A buddy of mine dyno'ed 360 threw a stalled auto and still managed to trap 116 @ 3700lbs. Car ran mid 11's on 1.6x 60's also.

I do have the BMR LCA's, Adjustable PH, and Sub-Frames. I had a friend mention that I should get a better suspension setup. I have the stock shocks/springs. I will definitly try less presure in the DR's.
Longtubes are also in the mix down the road. It'll be either Pacesetters or Kooks. I haven't decided. (I'm relocating next month cross-country, money is going to get tight!)
About 3 years ago, I ran 12.2@117 on some crappy off-brand drag radials at the same track. Since then, not much has changed. I've put a stocker MAF back on, and some slight idle tuning, that's it.
Either way, I think the launch is not where most of my problem is, except seat time. With the right setup and technique, I definitly could get the 60ft down a few 10ths. That's experience
Honestly, I think I have a transmission issue. It's just a gut instinct, and a feeling I get from driving this car 90k miles. I've been saying it's been going out for years, but seemed like after the track I had to push the gas a little bit more to get it up my "Hill of a driveway" when I got home. It's the same stock transmission I've had in it since day 1 when I purchased the car.
Thanks for all the feedback so far. I knew the MPH wouldn't match up.

I would say you have a problem with the trans or converter

How does it run! How is your tune! My car dynoed at 381 rwhp on a mustang dyno, what kind of dyno was your car on? I normally trap at 114 mph it could be in your trans?

very much could be a wasted converter, or simply a bad tune. i have 348 RWHP and nearly going 116 mph @ 3500 race weight (im 250)

I don't think it is the tune. Nothing has changed. I had it Dyno-tuned at Texas-Speed 4-5 years ago. I'm glad that others feel that it may be something in the tramsission. That's the only thing "slippin."

if its slipping then that could be the problem for sure, check the trans fluid and see if it smells burnt, could be the trans itself or the converter is toast. My buddy just went through this and he trapped 109mph in a H/C car until he found out his converter was shot, had it fixed and trapped 118mph.

I'm going all off of gut instinct, and facts from other auto cars. Our stock Transmission are the weak links for our drivetrain. Like I said, I've trapped higher in the past and it is the stock transmission with 90K on it.
Is their any diagnostic or test I can view in HP TUners or AutoTap? I will definitly take a look at the fluid too.
