pull the pass valve cover look for bent push rod. if you find nothing broken then its a rod or piston. plus it sounds like you got skrewed on the deal. Sorry to see it happen.

I'm planning on pulling the valve cover here in the next few days. Maybe I'm still ok on the deal !

when you get the cover off there should be no play in any of the rocker arms if you find some in one cyclinder then that is the one you remove the rockers from and check for bend push rods or maybe a bad lifter. Good luck and keep us posted.

Pulled the vavle cover, no issues with rockers or pushrods. The sounds really seems to be under the intake now. You can feel it on the intake bolts, cant feel anything on the valve covers or heads. My luck its a rod or something in the bottom end.

LS1 engine noises are hard to diagnose without really digging into it. It sounds like a lifter to me but could honestly be anything. Try making a video with it hot and rev it to about 3500 from a idle. If its a rod bearing it will get louder as you rev it. If its a lifter cam related it will stay the same.

When the engine revs the sound speeds up and when you let off it kinda pauses for a bit or atleast thats the way it sounds.

Pull the heads and look at the lifters. Then pull the short block if needed.

good luck selling that for 10k... in this economy I don't see that happening with a busted engine. I doubt I could sell my modded car that runs great for 10k right now

I don't mean to rain on your parade, but I paid 12,500 for my Z28 with only 11k mi, this last july. 10k is pretty steep for a car with a hurt motor imo... If you fixed it, then yea it's worth 10k +. Good luck
