I was on my way to work and all the sudden my check engine light comes on and starts flashing on and off.

I get cought by a red light and it is like bucking, not quite like it is gonna die but with the brake held down u can feel the car rocking back and fourth.

A friend says his old camaro did that once, he didn't have gas cap on right, or all the way. So ill try that, but that sounds too good to be true. Though I did fill up the night before this happened.

Any ideas? Ill try and get a obd2 scanner and run it, but I don't know if the car will make it home or to a parts store unless I fix something.

Thanks

Flashing SES light means "misfire(s)". See which cylinders are missing.

Flashing is definetly misfire. It is also means shut it off. Take it to your local autoparts store. Most will put a code reader(not a scanner) on it for free and let you know the code. If you don't want to pays big bucks check it the old way. Start it and while its bucking pull one spark plug wire(or coil plug) at at a time. WITH CAUTION Each time you pull one the bucking should get worse. When you pull one and it doesn't get worse but stays the same then thats the cyliner thats misfiring.

Something ignition related as well. Coils, wires, plugs etc
